You know I was talking to Shandon today via telephone, discussing that sometimes Blogging can seem like an actual job, vs something fun to do. And that sometimes posting freebies, contests, etc looses its luster, and how happy I am to have the help I have on this website, and of course on the forum, cause as an Owner of a site, you tend to be pulled in many directions, and a lot of the time its frustrating not to spend the time where you would like to.
Being an Owner, takes a lot of Creativity for the most part, it’s not just looks and feel, it trying to find a personality, and with many people blogging, it takes time to create an over all personality.
I’ve been toying with the idea of changing the logo again, but that is so much work, and I feel our front page is unique to other “sites” in the same “FREEBIE, COUPONS, CONTESTS, DEALS.
Because You don’t want to look like others!. I feel this is important.
Now you get into posting, your daily stuff, which I admit, we all have the content to some degree, yes one site has this, another that, you all know what I mean, and that is fine, as NO ONE OWNS a deal amongst competitors.
I know I personally get mine from facebook, twitter, emails, the forum, etc, where of course every other blogger does the same to some degree.
But you try to create a look for your posts, so they are “all the same”
Take a Look at RFDs
Bargain Moose:
CFS ( Canadian Free Stuff) has its own look as well, especially in the deals section! As since so many sites have deals, I really wanted my own “stamp” on it. So I decided to at least put stuff in my shopping cart, and find things I love, I always include it on all my posts. I include a picture or two, and put the price in, etc. You just never know, I might find someone with my exact tastes, or show what that store sells.
Its honestly has taken some time to find a “set style”, but I finally have one, I used to play with fonts, or boldness etc, underlines, ectera.
but with many bloggers, you must teach “your style” so you look some what in sync with each other. ( Thats a whole other post)
Just Ask Vanessa – our newest blogger!
As she did her first one on Reitmans post.
Which I had to walk her through step by step
LOW AND BEHOLD, This Afternoon I find this posted @ SC
I’ve NEVER EVER have seen a Product listed before on SC, not even in a link to one, I ‘ve seen them mention ” Oh there’s t-shrts on sale in clearance section, but never anything beyond that.
WEIRD! This is not their style what so ever!
As a blogger I frequent all the competition, (that’s just doing business), but I actually and not always succeed, in being different. I try not to have “every sale” as someone else, I aim for less than 50%. But thats what is whats posted for the day, I try and blog in the morning, but don’t always succeed, Sometimes its just when I have time set aside to it.
I don’t know what other bloggers do, but some are more “aggressive than others” and need to have the most, or all, or whatever, but hey each to their own.
SCROLL FOR NORMAL from same author ( exception todays 4 posts had products in them)
Generally this particular site,
Simply has Large Logo and spin of deal.
I should be flattered, that such a large site, loves the way I blog my posts, that they have to take the idea!
But instead I’m sitting her pondering, what my next move,
Do I simply change my blogging style – Once again?
Sorry to vent, but it’s just so frustrating, when your trying to be different.
So to all you bloggers out there!, Please find your own style, and call it your own! Don’t try to take someone’s look, or feel of doing things. It’s just frustrating, to find your little “nitch of a difference” taken.
This is not the first Time, I’ve had “IDEA’s taken”, but it stings the same way, as I just don’t understand why people can’t be creative with their own ideas. Why must one steal ideas? Why not make your own up?

I love the blogging done on this site. I have already written a “fan letter” email to express my appreciation of your humour and presentation. You DO have your own style and I love it.
I write a little and have been “published” on HUB Pages, Squidoo, TRIOND, Suite 101, etc. I mainly write what I know and they are just short personal stories based on my own life experiences. I would give anything to blog professionally and earn a little income. I am a senior citizen (barely into that category but not liking it very much at all). I believe I’m well-spoken, have good English composition and grammar and my family and friends think I am quite witty – I just call it being mildly eccentric Problem is, how does one go about getting their foot in the door for something like this?
I signed up at approximately 50 survey sites have done online surverys over the past few months (I think I’ve earned about $17 so far). I do not qualify for many of the surveys and it is not a lucrative endeavour for me. I then wrote several articles until I found out I was earning $1.00 per article, which amounted to approximately 33-1/3 cents per hour – I gave that up when I realized I owed the parent site $15 for the privilege of responding to “Workers Wanted” ads (and winning 3 projects). I gave everything I had to writing well-researched, interesting articles with all of the mandatory rquirements regarding key words, number of repitions, etc. The clients were pleased (no freaking wonder – I would be pleased with slave labour too) and I was intellictually stimulated by the research and pleased with my hard work, long hours and “gung-ho” approach to quality submissions. Imagine my horror when I finally got one client to divulge what I was actually been paid and found out it was (hold on to your seats folks) the princely sum of ONE LOUSY DOLLAR per article – not per page or per hour, but per ARTICLE. In doing the math, I was out $10. I earned $5.00 (it’s funny now but it wasn’t at the time) and I actually owed $15.00. I am the first person I know who ventured forth online and actually PAID people for the pleasure and satisfaction of working for them! An entrepreneur I’m not – but I am wiser and realize I must do my due diligence in anything I pursue as income online.
I have avoided the many pitfalls of online “work-from-home” success stories and can say I have not paid out money to earn money – that just doesn’t make sense. You don’t get paid that kind of money for anything that you don’t work dam hard for. As the old (but true) cliche goes, “if it looks too good to be true, then it probably isn’t”.
Oh my, I just wanted to comment on your excellent blog and perhaps get some feedback as to how I would best go about doing something similar and, instead, I have written a short story of probably very little interest to you or your fans. Like I said, I like to write but I’m usually one of very few readers of the “stuff” I put out there.
I will continue to visit this site every day (love the “freebies”) and enjoy your style and humour. We Canadians love that “u” thrown into words like humor, flavor, neighbor, etc. It is our “Queen’s English” showing.
