Well Today I managed to get 4 bags of Whiskas Cat food for FREE!!!!
How did I do it?
The 99 cent Clearance Bin.
The expiry date on the bags were expiring this month.
But getting them for FREE didn’t come easy!
The Store was Shoppers Drug Mart. I only planned to stop and purchase Milk. I then spotted the 99 cent shopping cart bin, and seen 4 bags of Whiskas cat food sitting in it. I immediately put them in my cart, and noticed they didn’t have the black writing on the bar code. I found a store clerk, whom quickly checked it, and confirmed to me that Yes because they are expiring this month, they were reduced to 99 cents.
I picked up my milk & eggs and headed for the Till
So she rang in my items and said the Whiskas Cat food was $8.00. I then explained that I confirmed it with the store clerk, and described her. So she called her over, and got the confirmation that these were indeed marked down to a $0.99 . I then handed her 4 tear pad coupons for the Whiskas Cat food for $1.75 x4.
The cashier said ” I should save these for another purchase, because they are only 99 cents”
I said “That’s ok, I can use them today. ”
She then responded “Sorry but you can’t use them on clearance items because the coupon is worth more than the product. ”
I then responded quietly and very nicely explained to just ring in the coupon for 99 cents, and that the store will be reimbursed the $1.75 from the manufacture.
The Cashier didn’t believe me, and then attempted to confirm the coupon with 4 different people on the phone before confirming Yes Indeed I can use these coupons for 99 cents on each item.
I smiled all the way through and was very patient the whole entire time.
My BFF asked what I was going to do with all this “Expiring Cat Food” that I got for FREE, and I told her we’re going downtown to make a pit stop and stop off at our local SPCA to make a donation.
We made our way to the local SPCA, where they were thrilled to get Free Cat food!
