If you are like me you usually have plain, naked waste bins in your house or you recycle your plastic grocery store bags and use them as liners. I am sure you would agree that the latter is not the most attractive look.
Muriel Wiener completely agrees. One afternoon while at home trying to recuperate from a serious accident she noticed the woman who was helping her around the house had put a grocery bag in the waste basket. Since her vision was affected from the accident she had to have a second look. At first she was very upset but then noticed the stores logo at the bottom of the bin and as they say “the wheels started turning”. What if you created a biodegradable liner that actually had pretty designs on it? There is all sorts of designs on paper towels and we just throw them away. Muriel decided it was time to “Dress the Mess” . She ran with the idea and became the founder and president of DesignerLiners.
DesignerLiners are decorative, biodegradable bags that fit perfectly into just about any waste bin. They are available in 11 beautiful colour/design combinations and they even do custom orders where a company can have a special design or logo put on their liners. DesignerLiners are made in the USA and are sold in packages of 12 or 100. They are very affordable at just $9.95/12-pack or $39.95 for a package of 100.
Last week I received a package of DesignerLiners to try out for myself. The pattern that I received is called Orange Polka Dots and this is a swatch of the pattern

When I first opened the package I was a little confused. The pattern seemed really faded and then I realized I was looking at the wrong side. The DesignerLiners are printed so the pattern is on the inside of your bin and you can fold the extra length over the lip to create a decorate border. This what it looks like in my waste bin.

As you can see the colour and pattern looks awesome in my home office. Since my waste paper basket is a gold open mesh design I could use them this way or inside out and have the pattern show through the mesh. Either way they look fabulous! I love the fact that they are totally biodegradable. Since I rarely put anything food based in this bin I can even reuse them. So much prettier than using a store grocery bag (which doesn’t even fit this particular bin properly) and much nicer than seeing my trash through a naked mess bin. These are the perfect solution for my office, bathroom and even the bedrooms. If I had a free-standing trash bin in the kitchen these would be a must. Can you imagine a shiny stainless steel garbage bin with a flash of colour and pattern peeking out from under the lid. It would look so cool especially in a coordinating colour to your kitchen. Very chic indeed. I love the different colours and patterns that are available.
Check these out…………………….

I can’t believe these have been around since 2007 and I am just discovering them now. The blue would be perfect in my upstairs bathroom and the green would look amazing in my kitchen. These are such a great idea. You can check out all the different designs and colours that are available at www.designerliners.com . To purchase desiner liners please visit the Amazon webstore HERE.
