Hey there all,
I have kind of a weird question.
A friend of mine has 3 chihuahuas and a boston terrier. They are great little dogs. The chihuahuas are puppies. None of them older then about 6 months. He is an older fella so I go over and help out with bathing them and so on. Lately we have been running into a little problem and no matter what I try it doesnt seem to make a difference.
The problem is that we are in the middle of training the dogs...its hard to do with 3 puppies (the boston terrier is already trained as she is 3). The puppies though keep wanting to eat their *droppings*. Gross I know. We did quite a bit of research on this lately and found a few solution. One was feeding them pineapple, we tried that and it worked for a couple of days. Now they are back at it again. Another option was that their food was lacking nutrients. We checked the food and with a vet and the food is great for them.
I am only asking this here because I dont really belong to any other forums on the net and I have already tried talking to everyone that I know and no one seems to know what could be causeing this. They all get plenty of attention and love. They have tons of space to run and play in. They get fed very well and are allowed very adequate time outdoors.
The weird thing is though...they will only try to eat each others *droppings* and not the boston terriers. Its weird. But if anyone has any advice or knows of anything that we could possibly try it would be greatly appriciated. We are all out of ideas as of now and are pretty much willing to try anything.
The last idea that was given to us we never tried. It was to sprinkle cayenne pepper or some hot sauce or something of that nature, on the *droppings* after they deficate....well...needless to say that with watching 4 dogs it is very hard to watch the where and when to be able to do that! lol.
Again, any help would be greatly appriciated.
