My mom (who fancies herself quite a "dog person" and has had three New Skete Sherpherds over the last 15 years) said that when her current doggy was a puppy she had this problem and was able to manage it by making a loud noise every time the pup would approach the poop. In a short time, the dog would not attempt to munch on the poop for fear of being startled. She said it was very effective for her. She also said that a lot of dogs are just into poop eating. Some more than others. I know it took us a while to get our Lab to stay out of the litter box. Gross!

Hope this helps...?
