The thing about glucometers is, you can actually get any of them for free - either with the purchase of a box of strips (just ask the pharmacist... they have the forms), or you can call the Accu-Check, Lifescan, (etc.)'s 800 # and ask them for the one you want (or 2 - you should always have an extra one!).

They'll mail it/them to you without delay.

They make their money on the strips, of course, so giving away the unit is just good business. I've never paid for a meter... just got 2 of the One Touch Ultra Minis in the mail, and they sent me the oh-so-fancy Ultra Smart as my back-up.

PS - be careful with this one. It's a neat concept, however I averaged 2 strip errors per drum... with strips being about $1 ea., that was too much waste to be acceptable, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm pretty meter-savvy.
