Payless ShoeSource announces recall of toddler clog-style shoes
TORONTO, July 17 /CNW/ - Payless ShoeSource Canada is voluntarilyrecalling approximately 3,000 toddler size clog shoes sold in Canada becauseof a risk that the small plastic rivets that attach the back strap to the shoecan separate and detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Payless ShoeSource, Inc. has also issued a recall in the United States incooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. These are toddler shoes in sizes 5 to 10 and sold in various colours. Theclog shoes included in this recall are: a Dora the Explorer character clog, aSpongebob Squarepants character clog, a Hello Kitty character clog, aCoasters(R) Lighted Car Compel clog, and a Cambridge Mary-Jane shoe. The shoesize is imprinted on the sole of the shoes sold in Canada. Only toddler clogshoes in sizes 5 to 10 sold between January 2006 and June 2007 are included inthe Canadian recall. No other sizes, styles or models are included in thisCanadian recall. The shoes were sold at Payless ShoeSource stores in Canada from January2006 to June 2007 for about $19 to $29. Consumers should take the recalled shoes away from young childrenimmediately and may return the shoes to a Payless ShoeSource store for a cashrefund or exchange.
