ALERT:Chatelane Magazine-Did you receive?

Just though I would put this out there. Last week I received a Chatelane Magazine in the mail. It was addressed to me yet I didn't recall any FREEBIE Magazine post for this. I then thought it might be a FREE ISSUE- but no where on the cover did it state that. I didn't think much more about it until I got an e-mail telling me how I could pay for my subscription online. WTF??
Was out there on other freebie sites tonight and guess what- lots of people have had the same problem. I went to customer service for Chatelane online and guess what- I owe them money and my next 13 issues are on their way!!

I just sent them off an e-mail to cancel all subscriptions in my name. I am always very careful not to check off any boxes that say subscribe now or any thing like that. This really ticks me off!! Did anyone else get fished in? If so I suggest you get on the phone or e-mail them right away.

I got a response from the email I sent them. They said to disregard any further notice and they will cancel it.

I apply for Free trial issues all the time. Just write cancel on your bill and mail it back to them. "Taste of Home" is a free trial too...just write cancel on the invoice and send back or go to their website and cancel online (send an email to their customer service too if you want to save a stamp!)

Happened to me to......and also entered into the reader's digest contest and ended getting a bill for that....so guess will be phoning chatelaine and reader's digest to cancel.

i have gotten free issues at times runners world was one i accidentally hit the subcscribe button but i eamiled and they canceled right away no charge

I kept recieving letters in the mail and in my inbox saying "PAY YOUR BILL NOW" and I hadn't even recieved 1 magazine of theirs in the mail yet. I wrote them an e-mail stating that I never would have signed up for anything that billed me and to stop sending me bills immediately. They replied back over a week later saying "I have cancelled the subscription in your name as requested. When
subscribing for the free trial issue online or by entering a contest a
subscription is automatically set up."

That is so stupid!!!! Why would you automatically sign up and bill someone that entered a contest?!? What a scam. I bet they get tons of people who don't know any better and just pay the bill.

I received Chatelane AND Today's Parent as well and I never ordered the mazgine.
I wrote to the Chatelane and the CSR informed me that because I entered a contest that the mazgine was holding, I was automatically entered as a subscriber. WTF!

I told to cancel any subscribations.

Is the publisher that depressed to get subscribers?

this happened to be except it was for a 17 magazine. They automatically check the subscriber button and you have to check the "enter contest without subscribing" button or else you'll get hit. Luckily, I got a mag free then I cancelled it. Remember to read everything carefully when entering contests

I got the free copy and I took the info off the free mag's sticker, went onto their site and cancelled it form there, under subscription, manage account and cancel, just make sure you have the info needed. I haven't gotten anythig more from them

Haha! me too! Its september's issue, I got two bills before I got the mag. I went online and cancelled and it shows I owe $0.00 but they sent me an email the same day saying I owe around $17, but maybe it wasnt updated at that point.

Worse case senerio maybe you can just send back the magazine. A couple years back I had free trial issues of time and I forgot about it and the sent me a few bills and I owed them for 6 issues I think and threatened to pass it on to bill collectors. I sent a few time bills back marked cancel and I haven't heard from them since. Do you think they dropped it? Because for the longest time after I got mail from them saying they want me back as their customer! lol!
