Oh yeah - I registered as well and still get tons of calls. And most times you can't even report them because you can't trace the number. I heard a report somewheres that they have fined different companies for calling when they shouldn't and it worked out to alot of dollars in fines. However the amount of fines that were actually paid was so very low and there was nothing being enforced to collect from those who owed. They spoke very low of the program.

That's strange. You may want to use Check my registration.
I registered on January 11th of this year. At the time, my wife and I were getting around 12 - 16 calls per day from Capital One plus calls from companies wanting us to change long distance provider etc etc. A month later we didn't get any calls of the sort.
We were getting a scam phonecall 20+ times a day for a week or so recently. I did a lookup of the phone number on the internet and it turned out to be some cell-phone user pretending to be CIBC and solicit personal information. (Rather tough to do given that neither of us have EVER had a CIBC account). tt11 But I used the *60 block feature to block them.
I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'm a telemarketer and I know that my company HIGHLY uses the national Dncl the unfair part is that they CHARGE companies to even see it so many companies don't bother.

I've been on it for a while now, couple years I think, and hardly ever get any calls. We did get a bunch last year from some company that never talked, or had a recording. I kept filing a complaint and haven't gotten any in a while. The other day we got a call from someone doing a survey for the LCBO. Hubby and I drink maybe a couple times a year, and we only buy stuff like Smirnoff Ice, or Bacardi Breezers. The odd time we'll buy a bottle of Vodka and some mix, but usually it's the coolers. Hubby told them we don't drink and the guy kept going on and on about how they wanted his opinion on certain things. He said, look, I don't drink and hung up. Funny how they keep hounding when you say you simply don't drink. How can I give opinions on something I know nothing about?
Anyways, I would keep filing a complaint about the number(s) calling you. If you keep getting the calls, answer and tell them you're going to charge them with harrassment because you're number is on the DNCL and they're still calling you. I've done that a couple times after we had our number on it, and they gave up right away.

Here is a list of all those who can still call you:

Ever since I registered both my house and cell phone, I don't think I've got any calls except charities around Christmas.

my father works as an insurance advisor for rbc and they are VERY uptight about the do not call list because they know that they can be fined and reported for it. however, whenever they call, just make sure you know who it is that's calling and even if you can't trace the phone number, you can report the company nonetheless.

If anything, I get more calls now. Always just when the baby goes down, just in time to wake him.
There have been very few fines given out and even fewer of those fines paid...like a very very small amount.

Registration is valid for FIVE years.
The exemptions include telemarketing calls made by, or on behalf of:
Canadian registered charities; Political parties, riding associations and candidates; and Newspapers of general circulation for the purpose of soliciting subscriptions.
Telemarketing calls from organizations with whom you have an existing business relationship are also exempt. You are considered to have an existing business relationship with a telemarketer if you:
Purchased, leased, or rented a product or service in the last eighteen (18) months from the telemarketer; Have a written contract with the telemarketer for a service that is still in effect or expired within the last eighteen (18) months; and/or Asked a telemarketer about a product or service within the last six (6) months.

I haven't had a problem with telemarketers at my place but my parents have. I usually just don't answer the phone around suppertime or hang up if there is no one talking within 3 seconds. Now if only you could add relatives to the do not call registry so they wouldn't bug you all the time.

I registered our number shortly after the program went live in 2008(9)? We still get a lot of unwanted phone calls from solicitors. I think we've received more now than before. There is one company that we've now reported to the police and have an open investigation with them because they refuse to STOP calling us to clean our ducts. We don't even have ducts! It has gotten to the point now that I screen all long distance phone calls. I just don't answer the phone when it rings long distance and let the machine take it.

I registered my cell number and then had to change it because I started to get telemarketing calls, from the US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I registered my home phone as well, still getting calls but they are from out of Canada. With Rogers, my long distance calls ring three times so we never answer (don't have anyone long distance who would be calling me)rastagirl

I've been on it for a couple of years now, and I have also registered our cell phones. It worked for a while on the home phone, but now I just get calls through the U.S...and I'm constantly getting calls from somewhere in Texas on my cell phone. Thank heavens for call display.
Today though, I got a call from unknown name, unknown number. I answered it just to see and it was the "we've detected some really bad viruses through windows (or something like that. HE was very hard to understand) on your computer."
Knowing about the scams that are out there, I simply said thank you but I can manage my computer on my own.
His reply was "Oh no...this is really really bad virus. You can't do it on your own." I hung up the phone. AS IF.

Same thing over here, we still get calls all the time
Totally frustrating! And of course, the calls always come at the most inconvenient times ...
