Bruschetta Pizza

1 1/2 cups (375 ml) chopped fresh plum tomatoes
1/4 cup (50 ml) chopped sweet onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 12- inch (30 cm) prebaked whole wheat pizza crust
1/2 cup (125 ml) prepared tomato pesto
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) shredded Canadian mozzarella
1/4 cup (50 ml) torn fresh basil leaves

Preheat oven to 400°F (200° C).
In bowl combine tomatoes, onion and garlic. Spread pizza crust with pesto.
Sprinkle tomato mixture over crust and top with mozzarella cheese.
Place pizza directly on the middle rack of the oven. Bake 8- 10 min or until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Remove pizza from oven and sprinkle with basil.

TIPS: Substitute Canadian Friulano cheese for the mozzarella. Add 1 tsp (5 ml) green pepper hot sauce to the tomato mixture.
