The scanning code practice is actually law in Ontario. So if you are in Ontario ALL STORES must do it. |

#30 | | Guru Beaver | in regards to stacking most stores will allow this as long as none of the coupons say that it is exclusive and cannot be used with any other offer or one coupon per product, if those are not listed on the coupons they have no problems, i have done this as sobeys for sure |

I was telling the story recently of the time I went to return a damaged pair of shoes at Payless. They had gone on sale since I purchased them and even though i was only trying to exchange them for the same exact pair they actually exchanged the shoes and gave me cash back! I was like "What? You're trying to give me cash back?" The clerk explained that if an item goes on advertised sale within a certain time of you purchasing it at full price, they will refund the difference!
So, when I told my MIL this story she said that a lot of stores do this but it is unadvertised. Apparently Canadian Tire does this. I have never followed up but if anyone gets the chance please give it a go and let us know! MIL says you just have to have the original receipt and in the case of canadian tire she thought you had 7 days.
Also, sorry for the long post but I saw at wal-mart the other day that they will price match any advertised price for identical items. Has anyone ever taken advantage of this? Sounds great! | You do get money back from Canadian Tire if an item comes on sale within a certain time period. I bought a bike for my son and it came on sale a week later, I took in the receipt and they gave me the difference! Staples also does this and I think it's within 30 days.

#34 | | Baby Beaver | I stack coupons at Rexall all the time, it comes in handy especially when they come out with their little coupon booklet every few months.
I just got a Crest Pro Health mouthwash for $.50 and the mouthwash had a free toothpaste attached, all thanks to coupon stacking. |

I may try w/ Walmart today. | Shoppers has a store policy of one coupon. They claim their computers won't allow them to do more than one. I had a huge fight with a manager there today about it. LMAO! |

#36 | | Guest | Hi
I lived in Winnipeg about 10 yrs ago and there were a couple of stores that did this. I saved big time! Sadly I don't know of anyone that does this anymore. I just moved back to Canada from MA and many of the grocery stores do have one day per week that they set aside for double coupon days. (I've heard of some stores even tripling). Unfortunately the catch is that they will only double coupons that have values under $1. It really limits your savings as many coupons are for $1 off. Also many manufacturers also have put restrictions on their coupons specifying that they cannot be doubled. That being said, I think it matters what area you live in , there seems to be a lot a variance in what's accepted when.

#37 | | Guest | My local Walmart does a price match but there are some caveats: You need to bring in the competitor's flyer and it has to show the sale dates of the item. You can also print off an Internet ad as long as the date is shown. It must be a local competitor. To my surprise , Superstore will not pricematch on food items. I moved to rural NS recently and this is the first time I've come across this. Does anyone know if other Superstores/SuperValu's/Loblaws in other provinces have the same policy?

I notice on some US shows that they mention some grocery stores doubling the amount of the coupons... ex: if our coupons was for $.60 double it would be $1.20.
Does any anyone know of any Canadain Grocery/Department stores that double Grocery coupons?
Thanks! | Well... A lot of the time, I just find a good coupon that is like two coupons but it's just one. I'm not sure about which stores double the coupons your guess is as good as mine. |

It's basically when you cash an item out and the item rings up higher then the shelve/advertised price you get it for free if the item is under $10.00 or if the item is over $10.00, you get $10.00 off the item. :spot:
I know Walmart does this for sure.. since I have mentioned to the Cashier when the item was rang in higher them the shelve/advertised price. I've gotten socks and shampoo for free. Watch the shelve price esp if the item is on clerence... sometimes the item gets missed scanning when the staff are marking dow the prices.
When you go to Walmart (and any other grocey place for that fact) next to the cash on the customer side it's a little advertisment of it.
You need to mention the Code of Practice if you see the item ring higher.
Good Luck! | I've done this many times! This also works at zellers and pharmaprix (shoppers drug). I have gotten may things including a dvd, nailpolish, and tanning lotion! all free. You can go around the store pricechecking the items to compare. My friend and I used to do this "mystery shopping" all the time lol. It usually only works on one item, and the rest of the identical item is the sale price. They basically do this because you have spotted the error and its a little reward because they will fix the price right away, and next one to be rung up at the cash will be the sale price. In quebec there is a sign in nearly every pharmaprix (shoppers drug mart) and they call it price accuracy policy |
