Anybody into weightloss? (RE: Fit Club?)
howdy CFS fans !I just joined the gym earlier this month at the YMCA. Great facility to be in. I'm gonna be up front and tell you all, i'm 360lbs right now and I really need to get into shape. So I was just wondering if anybody else was working out, even if its just to lose a few pounds. so far I've lost a few pounds but as of April 1st (not an April Fools joke) I'll be on a full Raw Diet with the only meat eaten being fish and chicken. lost 16 lbs in 2 weeks before on it but just got distracted and discouraged.
Right now I'm doing close to 15,000lbs twice a week for weights but might up it to 3 times a week, and about 40-80 minutes of cardio a week. I figured I would see if anybody else was into this sort of thing cause I've seen fit clubs on other forums and couldn't find one on here through search.
So if you're into weight loss for whatever reason, feel free to drop a line and leave some motivation for others and tips and tricks people might not know.

I like playing Dance Dance Revolution and games like Just Dance for the Wii, as well as walking and bike riding for cardio. :]
You don't even need a Wii to be able to play Just Dance either. Thanks to Youtube, all kinds of exercise videos are available. Search for Zumba dance, yoga, anything and you'll find some really good resources. : D

The beauty of games like DDR is you can input your weight, play the songs and it'll track how many calories you've burned. :]
You're welcome! There's lots of stuff you can do from home (that saves you money on going to the gym). <3
I've gotten inexpensive exercise equipment like a yoga mat and a theraband (it's a stretchy rubber cord or ribbon with handles you can use for resistance training at home, if you didn't know) from Winners as well, in case that helps.
Remember that you're a beautiful person no matter what size you are. I wish you good luck, success in your goals and all the wonderful benefits that exercise and being healthy can bring you. <3 : D

That's great that you joined the YMCA and are trying to healthy! Keep it up, you're going to do great
If you could lose 16 pounds in 2 weeks that's really something to be proud of!
I decided in the summer I wanted to lose some weight and focus on becomming healthier. I started going to zumba classes with my mom and they were so much fun, it didn't even seem like exercise, just dancing and fun with a bunch of ladies! I also started drinking only water and drinking a big cup of water before a meal. I started putting about half the amount of food on my plate than usual, if I have all that food on my plate, I eat it, but if its not there I'm comfortable without it and can always go back for more. I ended up losing a little over 30lbs and I am trying to maintain my current weight.
Zangel: I LOVE playing just dance! Those games for the wii can be a great work out and they're so much fun.

So a small update, I'm down 20lbs within almost 2 months. Mainly just 20 because of gaining muscle as well as dropping the fat. I'm eating healthier and feel better already. Plus I'm also training for a 5K run/obstacle course taking place in Oro, On in September.
Anybody have success stories they wanna share? feel free to.

My husband and I are doing EA Active for the Xbox connect. It really works you and only takes about 20 minutes. I also do Zumba fitness on my xbox 4 times a week (i do not do classes because I am insanely uncoordinated). I think I am loosing weight because my clothes feel better, I find if I am not focusing on the numbers I tend to get less discouraged.
Previously, before insulin, I went from 260 lbs down to 155 lbs (at a size 6). Gaining weight back because of the constant change in insulin medication has been really depressing, but this new program of eating (Canada food guide in 6 small meals with both carbs and protien) has been wonderful.
Good for you for sticking with it for 20 lbs and good luck in the future.

I've done it "Really Slow" and many baby steps!
I started back in September 2010 I did Jillian Micheals 30 day challange back then I did it 25 out 30 days. I lost 11.5 inches and 10 lbs I think was the number. I then started at the gym going to Bootcamp classes 1 x a week and increased it to two days per week till June. Quit for July and August. I gained back 5lbs and restarted again September 2011. I did bootcamp 2 x a week, then I wanted to throw my body off and I did Spin classes 2 x a week and bootcamp 2 x a week for a while, then my schecual didn't fit as nicely. So lately have been doing spin 3 days a week.
I seem to lose weight September -December. January - June change body mass, and maintain.
Total Loss = 30 lbs
Body Mass Lost 10%
Jeans 15/13 down to 7/9 or Size 34/36 down to 29/30 depending on make and fit. I bought a pair of capris at a size 6 last week.
I don't know how much smaller I want to be. I do still have a tummy I would love to tighten some more. So I'm not caring about the scale as much right now. But am hoping to accomplish my goal between September and December this year.
Diets - I still follow a lot of Atkin principals - less carbs ( stay away from white flour and sugar)
changed my coffee to black.
The more muscle xx Fat ratio you have on your body - the more you can burn...... So I'm finally at a point with only 25% body fat that I can get away with eating bad without seeing appear on the scale.Real Name: Theresa

Wow thanks lol. Wasn't expecting so much support up here lol. I've been eating really healthy lately. At the moment i'm having chicken breasts with a salad. Its been a great few weeks. I am proud of myself. Never thought it was possibly for me to lose weight in such a short amount of time and while having so much fun.
My trainer is actually bringing in a medal from her marathon on friday which will motivate me more. I don't know why but "seeing is believing" lol. I can't get the motivation unless I can see something i'm going after and thats one of the things I'm hoping to do. Run a marathon. I'm hoping to lose 5lbs for my next weigh in this friday though. That's my main goal at the moment. The ultimate one is to lose 150lbs and run a marathon.
Thanks for the support. It means a lot.

For me weight loss is hard, I have fribromyalgia, so even though it is important it hurts, normally i only do cardio or aerobic exercises. i also found that with having smaller meals more often and drinking mostly water it helped. i threw out my scale because it was making me discouraged, i went by how my cloths fit and how i felt. now that i am pregnant my fibro has gone into a semi remission but i have had lots of complications, very sick and now on bed rest, although with being so sick i lost 30lbs in 1 month, not something i would recommend however.
you are doing an awesome job doc - keep up the great work and it will come, just remember muscle weighs more then fat and that if it comes off slower it is better for you, you wont gain it back so fast if you "fall off the wagon" so to speak

I've fallen off the wagon a few times already. I just pick it up the next day with nothing but fruit and vegetables. You can eat as much of that stuff as you want cause its mostly water and fiber. It's great for ya too. I think i'm already at my 5lb loss mark for the week and that was only within 3 days I managed that, so I'm a bit excited to weigh myself on Friday.

Well I dropped the 5lbs today for a total of 25lb since i started. I also fif my first 5km on a treadmill 48 seconds shy of a full hour. I was expecting a longer time but totally blew myself away with that. Now to keep at it and run the real thing in September. That's going to be a big accomplishment and my first medal. I earned it today but this was just a practice run.
and in to reply to ameliamarie: I'm sorry to hear about that, but i'm sure if you met with a trainer they could work out a routine for you to do as best as you can with your condition. I don't know if they have a YMCA there but the trainers are great. they don't really force you to do stuff like they do on those boot camp shows. I talk with 2 people every friday, a nutritionist and a trainer. My trainer really pushes me to do only what I can. I did the 5km cause I could feel it and before I knew it, it was done. I walked and jogged but it was better than what I used to do which was sit on a couch and watch tv lol. I'm sure they'll be respectful of you and your needs without challenging you to give it your all. it's not like that where I am and from other ones I've heard about in other cities. I'd recommend giving it a shot when you can.

Got Another weigh in. Last week I failed and gained a bit of weight but this week I went down 7lbs, so it was about 3 lbs I went down. I'm starting to see the change though as I had to reset machines today cause I was losing fat and the settings weren't set properly for me to lift the weights so we had to make readjustments to the little bit of fat I've lost. I'm feeling great though.
