| Bow Chicka Honk Honk!  Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Surrey, BC |  bad neighbours... Arrrgh. I live in an apartment building. And a little background on these people before i start: When we moved in i actually did talk to the lady nextdoor and she was ok, a bit short in the head but nice. Her friend scared me though, she's aggressive and likes to throw cats and other animals around like pillows. Anyway, the lady nextdoor started getting really clingy and knocking on my door every day sometimes several so i got creeped out after awhile and stopped answering hoping she would get the picture. Since then (a few months) her friend has been running past our door and banging on it at random hours of the morning. and a few weeks back we were coming home from grocery shopping at like 10:30pm, very tired and they tried to come over and i said no politely, we're tired and busy. I repeated this several times but the woman's friend kept PUSHING her way into our apartment through me and my husband and our groceries! I had to push the door shut and she yelled some profanities at me...that night she decided there was gonna be alot of noise on our door -_- and dividing wall. So i called the cops, they've come by three times so far but to no effect (including just last night) and this morning my husband finds SPIT on the door. I'm gonna take pictures of it...and maybe call the cops again but i don't know what else to do :< Suggestions? |

| Moderator   | Wow... that's scary, u said u live in an apartment.. u should tell your superintendent and report everything and they'll see to it that she's evicted (my in laws are superintendents and have had to call the cops on people for similar things) also I would definitely call the cops, call them every time something like that happens that way they have all the reports and if anything worst happens and u have to take them to court u'll have all the documentation you'll need to prove you case.. don't worry about being annoying or anything, It's their job to make sure everyone is safe, and this person sounds very unstable... just what I suggest u do I have had nightmare neighbors before (not where I had to call the cops or anything) I lived in a lower duplex and both my kids were under 2 yrs old, the people up stairs used to party every night. one night (on a Tuesday) they were partying at 3am and had the music cranked, Lot's of banging around and yelling to each other over the music and I had to get up at 5 to bring the kids to the baby sitter so that I could go to school, anyways they woke both of my babies up (hubby works midnights so he wasn't home) so I called them and politely said "Hi, guys it's 3 am on a Tuesday and we have to get up early, do u thing u might be able to keep it down a bit" they said OK, and seemed to understand ... but as soon as I hung up they turned the music up even louder and their guests started banging on the floor and at 430 am they were drunk and banging on my door (probably should have called the cops) needless to say we moved out at the end of the month to a single family home... then at out new home the lady next door, who all the kids in the neighborhood called "the witch" she was like in her 90's but looked closer to 120 ... whenever my kids got to close to the fence she was out there yelling, and a few times the kids would be playing with balls and they went over the fence and I swear the woman would go psycho ... but after about a year she disappeared (I'm guessing she either died or was put in to a home).. but yeah she scared me, so my kids were afraid to play out side

Cop basically said they can't do anything if noone saw who did it, even if its obvious (he's said it's a policy thing, understandable). I took pictures anyway, and he said he would send out the same cop who came out last night, sometimes today. I don't want to get her evicted cos of her friend...the one causing the trouble doesn't actually live here. |

I know its not the place but the peopel but tis still awful nontheless I hope the situation imporves itself quickly and without too much trouble |

| Diva Beaver  | hate to say it but by talking to them in the beginning you started this whole thing. they think you want to be friends and are now rejecting them. they may be wanting some attention that you gave them in the beginning. keep a log of everything. names, dates, what you did, what they did. your feelings about the situation, witnesses etc. you may need this log because it might come back on you later on. ive had so many bad neighbours too. i never talk to anyone or even look at them. the police wont do anything. my son was assaulted a couple months back and they lied about him and the police basically said he deserved it. |

| auntjude  Join Date: May 2008 Location: Between North Bay and Sudbury | I am a landlord, not living in my building. Tenants are always calling and complaining about other tenants. Talk to your landlord and he can have bad neighbours evicted for "substantially interferring with the reasonable enjoyment of a tenant". The bad tenant can just stop being nasty and void the order or they will be forced to leave if they do not change their ways. Hope this helps. go to www.ltb.gov.on.ca for more info |

Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Surrey, BC | MrMick, they introduced themselves to us, and practically forced themselves on us, we were just being polite and they took advantage...i wouldn't call what these people are friends. UPDATE: I told my landlord about this stuff, and he discussed it with the strata presidents, he said she is likely to get evicted but i haven't heard back from him yet. He's usually a pretty good landlord so i think the strata is just taking their time. The one that does not live there actually made a death threat after calling the cops on us yet again for no reason...he was talking to us and Mary yelled a threat down the hallway. While the cop was outside my door :< They have screwed themselves over. I could have got her arrested for it (the cop asked me about it, i said no, last thing i want to do is pursue legal action). We just want to be left alone already... They did stop for exactly a week. Then this morning they ripped a sticker off our door...who the hell pulls crap like that?! |
