Ok first of all I sincerely apologize if this is in the wrong place but I am looking for some advice about cel phones.

I'm currently in BC and my phone is currently with Telus, using Pay and Talk. I tried to get a plan but apparently I do not have good credit.

So, I pay a monthy fee for free incoming, free local after six and free text. I pay 25c/min for local in business hours. Fine. But for long distance, I pay a whopping 55c a minute. I tried buying a VOX long distance calling card but was dismayed to learn that I cannot access toll-free numbers on my phone without being charged the long distance rate!! Therefore, using a 1-800 number and then a PIN on a calling card does me no good at all.

I am wondering, are all cel phones this way? Do you all have to pay LD charges to call a toll free number? Or is this just a Telus thing?

My cel is my only phone right now so I am looking for a way to keep in touch for LE$$!!! I am really happy to have the phone but would gladly defect from Telus if I could figure out what company I should switch to.

I switched from telus to FIDO. I have to use my phone for work, hence a lot of long distance, etc.

I think I purchase everything they offered almost.

I got 750 any time minutes
350 minutes long distance
A large DATA Plan
Free Incoming calls
Voice forwarding, messaging, etc........ all for like $105.00

But as I said I use it for work, its my life line. So I needed a huge package.

But with Fido, you can build your own plan, or buy one that they have.

I had my son on Virgin Mobile.

I am on pay as you go with rogers... it started out great but in the last 6 months its gotten bad... Getting messages from rogers 1 once a week almost with changes they are making... I now get $1.00 taken off monthly for 911(Even if not used) pay 1.75 a minute up from $1.00 But i still get 1 cent a miunute evenings but its 8-8 and i rarely use my phone for calling then. and now they are charging me for incomming texts ( never di before) Witch i have always seen as stupid because you cant exactly control whos texting you.People from the states call my cell and half the time if i dont answer they text me asking why i didnt answer...

I have Virgin pay as you go but I'm seriously thinking about going to a plan, it's about the same price, instead of worrying about running out of time and they bug me because every time I go to make a call they send me a text message telling me to top up my account, I'm not a texter so I don't need text messaging.
