Extreme Couponing
howdy CFS fans !I am new, so this topic may have been covered before....I may have missed it on the searches of the threads.
In the US, a few grocery store chains offer double & triple coupon days. Does anyone know of any grocery store chains that offer that in Canada? Or more specifically, in BC?
Does anyone here on the forum try to do a 'free' shopping trip with sales & coupons? If so, do you have any tips?
I have checked out the US sites, but they have so many different rules than Canada.

The only store I have heard of that will take multiple coupons for the same item is London Drugs. Apparently if they have a different upc code on them they will take them. We don't have a London Drugs here in Ontario so I have never tried it. Is there London Drugs in BC?

We do have London Drugs in BC. They are usually more expensive than Wal-Mart & Zellers, but some of their sales are really good. I have had luck a couple of times at Safeway when I have had a coupon for a free item and then a coupon for buy 1 get one free.
I usually do a 'free shop' once a month at the end of the month with coupons for free items I have. If it is for an item that I don't use, I redeem it anyway & donate it to a charity. Eg I don't have pets, but donate it to our local Seniors with Pets group.

Also, does anyone have suggestions for sorting/storing coupons? I currently use a recipe card holder that is divided up into categories. I am always looking for useful ideas.
Also, I have heard of holders that attach to shopping carts, but have not found one. If anyone knows where to get one for a good price or a 'pattern' to make my own!

isn't that strange, how there is no London Drugs in London Ontario??? anyways .. to answer your question about sorting coupons, I personally have a whole kitchen drawer dedicated to coupons... it's totally unorganized and I can never find what I'm looking for so hardly ever use them.. unless they are full priced coupons, they get magneted to the fridge so I dont forget to bring them shopping... lol, I'll take a pic of the inside of my coupon drawer in the morning and post it for all of you to laugh at

My coupons also go in the coupon box. BUT my husband does all the grocery shopping and always 'forgets' to take any!! Unless, I am with him, the coupons never get used. Oh well, I keep on clipping just in case, one day, he'll 'remember' to use them.

Is there a photo of Cheetah's coupon binder?
I would love to make something that sat nicely in a shopping cart to hold coupons while shopping, and not take my whole coupon organizer, just a mini one.
I also live very close to the US and go down frequently. The bad thing is that most of the sites won't let me print US coupons and it read the IP address of the computer and says I am not in the area. BOO!

I learned from the Coupon queens in the US to use a Binder and I have sleeves normally for collecting cards. I just did a binder yesterday. My husband thinks I am Crazy but if we can save a few $$$ why note.
1 binder
A couple packages of clear sleeves
Dividers
letters or stickers to go alphabeic.
I did mine by Grocery, paper, bathroom, Misc and then alphbetic. We will see if it works.
GOOD LUCK

I so wished Ontario had a London Drugs!! I keep my coupons in my messy zippered binder that has slots to drop in the coupons like a folder. As hard as I try to keep it organized it never stays that way lol, I really gotta get on top it this month!!

I would definitly check out cheetah's blogs, that's how I got started and her system works wonderfully.
Also, London Drugs is expensive but by stacking coupons I have got many items for free (Olay body wash, loreal shampoo/conditioner, and old spice deoderent and body wash)!!!! I even have got laundry soap for $0.99 and $1.25 - great to watch their flyers and then use the coupon binder to see if you can stack to get the items for cheap or free.

The Extreme Coupon show is interesting for sure!
But some US stores double coupons and that really helps the shoppers. I haven't found any stores in Canada that double coupons and my closest US grocer doesn't double coupons either, but does have some great sales. Unfortunately they are a small chain with about 9stores. The last time I went down armed with over $100 in free coupons, they didn't carry one brand/item that I was looking for.
I am able to do some small 'free' shops here in Canada, but it doesn't get me a months supply of groceries. It mostly gets toiletries & snacks and I do it just for the fun of it. The cashiers usually get a kick out of it and it is definitely like a game.

With Walmart letting you keep the overages on your coupons I have really hit it big, only a couple of times. Right now use the printable coupon at rightathome.ca for ziploc bags to make $1.04 for every 2 bags. Also, they are great at seeing how much you save I went last week armed with my free stuff coupons (cereal, ice cream, etc ...)and my other coupons for the sale items and received $135 in product and only paid $24.
I never buy items just because of a coupon and only by things on sale. If I have overage coupons I then buy groceries with that.
