I know its a bit early but.... Secret Santa? howdy CFS fans !Anyone here interested in parhaps doing a canadianfreestuff secret santa?
we could set a price min and max ect... and almost make it a contest; see how nice of a gift you can get with the allotted amount allowed; you can also add thins in the gift like coupons, recipes, seasonal things ect.. make it xmasy.

what a great idea! I'm in!
(going to make this thread sticky in the announcement section)
we'll have to make up some rules tho, like only members with more then say 500 posts or something that are regular members, that way we can kinda trust them to actually send

I'm in, but if it's a min of 500 posts guess I gotta get posting!!
I would think a max of 20-25 dollars NOT including shipping would be good for the gift limit as alot of us have kids etc to buy for. On another forum I'm on, gift giving is done sorta like this:
Mods gather up the mailing address, and we also have a questionaire all sent via PM to a mod. Since this is a freebie/coupon kind of site, we could have questions along the lines of..
~ Would you be ok if someone sent you coupons/gift cards with your gift?
~ what kind of stores do you live near if someone was to send you a coupon/gift card? (not everyone lives near a big city to redeem alot of the coupons out there, like me for example!)
~ Do you collect anything, if so what? (candles, nicnaks, jewellery etc)
~ If someone was to send you a candle, do you like scented (which ones) or not?
~ any allergies to anything, fav. colour etc etc etc....
That sort of thing. Gives people an idea what people do/don't like so it avoids people sending something that might be unsuitable or something.
Hope you don't think I'm trying to take over the idea, just offering some suggestions

Might possibly be in, but I'd like to know the complete rules first, and the minimum price to spend, + average shipping costs.
(I have no job, my grass cutting days are running out, and like always am broke
I love you guys, but family comes first with Christmas present buying, and after I buy for them I'm not sure how much I'll have left... Recently won some money, so that's a start. But I'll see when more official rules are out!
)

yeah, I think many of our members don't have much money (specially around christmas, what about $5 max... or everybody gets something from the dollarstore, that could be fun?
let me know what you guys think???

Hm, the $5 idea isn't bad.
And I like the idea of sending questions for each person to answer too!

LOL.... ok, we've done this a few times ( many many years ago)
I'd say min/max $10 to $15 ( includes shipping)
Need a sign up by date. Suggest November 15th.
Questions very good idea. To be completed by November 20
Gifts to be mailed out by December 1. Must include tracking number.
We'll need one Mod to head this. To organize whom sends to whom, and whom's received, etc.
Not one christmas exchange is "perfect" and there is always someone that screws it up. But We have some extra gifts, so we can use one of them as the "Christmas Angel".......
Rules if one person signs up and receives a gift without sending, will be Banned from participating in such event again.
I will Join in on the secret santa. Sounds like fun, I actually still have this weatherman little guy and two santa candles from the last one years ago.Real Name: Theresa

Where do you go to get tracking numbers? Like, if you go to one of them Canada Posts in a Shoppers, can you get them there?

I'd love to participate per HappyCappy's rules, but there' no way I'll get to 500 posts before then.
- 10-30-2010, 01:45 AM #14
yay, we'll have to knock down the amount of posts to enter, but definitely have to be an active member

Oh good, I was worried I'd have to go on a spam spree
J/K, I wouldn't do that, but yeah, I wouldn't get 500 either lol.
Would it be easier to have the questionaire completed when we PM our signup info to the Mod that runs it? When you post the signup thread include the questions there, so all we have to do is send 1 pm including our mailing address and also our questionnaire. Faster to forward 1 pm rather than double. Also, on the note of signups due by the 15th, and questions by the 20th, this would eliminate the 2 different deadlines and possibly confusion?. For myself, I would have to buy and ship on the 20th/21st in order to have things shipped by Dec. 1st, and I would probably send the questions in the same pm as my mailing addy anyways.
Also when you post the signup thread you gotta remember to stress that we must NOT give out other's mailing info under no circumstances. I'm sure all the active members here are legit, but it's always a good thing to post
.
Oh, and I just thought as per HappyCappy's post, it's a bit hard to include shipping in the total cost as depending on what you buy it can vary in on the cost to send. Just a thought
.
Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes or annoy you, just wanted to throw those ideas out as suggestions.

I'm in but I don't have 500 posts either and I work full-time now, so If thats one of the rules then I guess I'm out.
- 10-30-2010, 12:18 PM #17
@ petcrazy, I think we all consider you an active member

I mean someone that like hasn't posted in a few months.
How about this, HappyCappy makes up the rules, and starts the sign up thread with all the rules... then blooming rose can do up the questions and whoever signs up PM's me the answers along with their real name and mailing address, and I'll PM everybody with info of the person they are buying for, and keep track ... is that ok with everybody? and amI forgetting anything?

For the candle question, it's a good idea but I think it should just be anything scented, like What's your favourite scent? This way it'll include candles, but also things like lotions and soaps, etc.

Agreed............
I think we won't have a Member post rule, but will be based on "mod decision on whom will be contacted to be involved". This way it can be a case by case decision".Real Name: Theresa

I am going to work on the questions to send to HappyCappy tonight so that she can add them to the signup posting.
tee, thanks for pointing out the scent thing for the questionnaire, I'll keep that in mind.
I'd also like to say that it's no problem to do the questionnaire for the staff, and that I'm glad to help
