So i get this email from my sister

Hello, it's W. hope every thing is ok? Just wanted to seek your favour on something very important. Something terrible happened to me. I had a trip to United Kingdom on some works.Unfortunately for me all my money got stolen at the hotel where I lodged along with all my belongings also with my return ticket, and since then i have been without any money, i am even owening the hotel here. I only have access to my e-mail for now because my mobile can't work here.

Please i need you to lend me about 1500G.B Pounds so i can make arrangements and return back please, i have spoken to the embassy here but they are not responding to the matter effectively, I would return the money back to you as soon as i get home, I am so confused right now. I have made enquiries and was able to find out that you can have money sent to me through a service called Western Union Money Transfer.

Below is the information you might require in sending me some money.

Once you have made the transfer, please send me the details on the receipt you will get including a 10 digit number called the MTCN number, because i was told without that i won't be able to receive the money. Someone had hacked her yahoo account, changed the password and was sending this to everyone in her account.

Being a scambaiter, I rose to the task and baited him for a bit. He knew my name, so I had to be careful. The IP lead to a satellite provider only, so who knows where this guy was. He was quite persuasive, changing his story as I put up road blocks. I even talked to him a bit through a safe chat room. I finally told him to take a hike.


Please, if you use a public computer, please remember to log out of your email accounts, close the browser. Ask if the cache clears after the browser closes. If not ask to clear your cookies from for safety.

This was different. It used my sister's name (first and last I edited for this post) , and came from her email account. EVERYONE in her email address book got it, and for people who didn't know that she got locked out of the account and tried to warn her, the scammer tried to convince them that this was real.

So watch your email accounts, because all your info in it is at risk if it gets hacked, and your password gets changed on you.

All of those people in her address books email addies are probabley going to get sold among scammers, as legit email address are pure gold to them.

Bad idea. Most of these scammers are in internet cafes in African countries. They also send with hundreds, if not thousands of emails Not only are you infecting a legitement business's computers, you might be spreading viruses who knows where.

i wish they would invent something to stop these idiots......something kinda similar happen to a friend of mine and it sent messages to everyone in her msn (including me) I thought something was up so I asked her b4 i did anything other then read it

wow thats scarey becasue of the fact that they stole your sis info... but they get away with stuff like that all the time and alot of the time they steal your identity it freaks me out!!
