The Sock Wars - LOL

I just found this so darn funny. This is a picture of my livingroom floor right now. My daughter is preparing for College next month and is panicing that she doesn't have any socks. She did a load of "sock" laundry and is trying to match up the pairs. There is at least a dozen single socks without a match. Where the heck do the missing socks go??

And this doesn't even show all the ones already folded and in the basket ready to go upstairs.
And you know the minute she throws out the single ones -their match will show up!

LOL that's funny! But that's a problem in my house too, and baby socks are the WORST cause they're sooooooo small! I have thrown out so many 'single' socks because I've kept them with hopes, and knowing that the mate is around this house somewhere, and WILL turn up. Then, months after the initial sock toss, the mate turns up and drives me nuts cause you know, IT has no match. Then I just toss it cause I remember all the ones I threw away and refuse to keep this one any longer hoping!

I'm going to buy a truckload of safety pins and safety pin them together before tossing them in the laundry basket for the wash.. I will not allow my socks to be lonesome. Most without a match are my favorites too

LOL thats too funny. i think the washing machine eats the socks. i have a basket that i put the single socks in just in case the mate shows up. when i buy socks i try to get the same type over and over. that way if one sock goes missing i"ll always have a mate for it lol

When my kid were small i use to wash all their socks in a laundry bag meant for bras so i wouldn't lose them. I don't care what any one says i think there is a portal to another dimension in the washer/dryer that takes the socks away. I know most ppl think the washer/dryer eats them but thinking my machines have teeth will just give me nightmares! LOL

Isn't it funny how this happens to everyone.
You are so right BloomingRose. The minute you throw one out, the other comes out of hiding.
And I totally agree with you Wendy. There is totally a black hole that just sucks up socks. x)

I recommend those laundry bags as well where you can throw your socks in as well as your undergarments. I believe they have even specific bags for babies and young children to prevent their clothes from getting lost in the wash.

i had a look yesterday for the garment laundry bags. I saw some laundry bags in the clearence bins @ shoppers drug mart but not ones for washing things in

Perhaps try Walmart or Zellers. I'm sure they will have them. And you might get lucky and score a deal at Zellers with it closing and their sales.

I'm going to keep my eyes open or get a package of safety pins and when I take my socks off the throw in the laundry clip them together
