Being a chronic pain patient with fribro/nerve damage and a bunch of other probs - sleep is not something that happens a lot or for long. I wont bother telling you the warm milk, counting sheep or saying good night to every part of your body cause they don't work.
Here are some things that sometimes help me to pass out
read a boring boring book
watch a nature show very low volume
ortho-sleep i capsule just at bedtime
warm bath with lavender oil or bubbles
Flexeril just before bed with pain med
melatonin disolved under the tongue in bed
sudoku
A little piece of chocolate or a bananaWhen you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!

For me if I am having problems going to sleep I will get my husband to read to me from a book he is reading. He likes to read history books and I find those subjects so boring that it puts me to sleep.

I sometimes try to go to sleep in a different location. No watching TV in bed and go to bed the same time every night. Your body likes routine. Hopefully those things help. On really bad night I take a advil night time as often it is pain that keeps me up.

To be honest, I'm quite interested in knowing some tricks and tips as well. Doesn't matter what I try, I always have difficulty falling asleep. I can never sleep if I am too hot though. Being too hot, having a stuffed nose or stomach pains/aches keep me up all night!
I've heard listening to nature sounds at night can be very relaxing.
Also heard that turning off all laptops, TVs ect. an hour before bed helps as well but of course I've never tried that one. =pGift Hulk: http://www.gifthulk.com/invite/SJ67388

i usually don't have trouble falling asleep. it's staying asleep i have trouble with. sometimes, just getting out of bed and either going to the bathroom or getting a drink helps me to fall back asleep. sometimes i will put on my bf's cd (low volume) and his sweet voice send me into blissful sleep. some nights i wear a breathe right strip (or store brand) to help with my stuffy nose.

Chamomile tea is a natural sedative. I find the Neo Citran stuff works almost too well on me lol. If I take one of those I fall asleep in my chair and wake up with a half full cup in my hand.

My main favorite is Smart alarm on my Ipod touch. You can set it to play "music"for a specified amount of time then it shuts off automatically.smart Alarm does some other cool things too like record sounds, light sleep phases, deep sleep phases, and ofcourse the Alarm.
My 2nd favorite is a body spray I got from my sister I think its from the body shop. Its a aroma therapy type and for some reason it makes me actually sleepy~AMY

Basil, a good deed for your stomach.
These very aromatic leaves can help to ease bloating and upset stomach when made into tea.
Inhaling the vapors from steaming basil can help if you are nervous or have difficulty sleeping.
