Looking for free planting seeds

I am looking for somewhere to get free bedding seeds to teach my daughter how to grow flowers. Does anyone know where I can aquire some?

Are you looking for flower seeds or vegetable seeds?

There is a Yahoo seed exchange group online that is good, and I have made around 9 trades for seeds since last fall. You post a list of seeds you have and seeds you want, and then members simply contact each other to make the exchanges. Have no seeds to trade but see some on offer that you'd like to have? No problem, most members will send you the seeds you'd like for a SASE or SASBE (self addressed stamped bubble envelope).

To browse the seeds people have on offer, click "Files" in the left hand menu, then click "Member Trade Lists".

The group is fairly quiet right now, but if you post requests, people generally are good at replying promptly.

I have far more vegetable seeds than flower seeds but if you'd like some of them, I'd be happy to send you some in exchange for a SASE or SASBE.

It sure would be great to have more Canadians participating in these seed exchange groups - more convenient, and less expensive to trade! Please post "Canada" or "Canadian" in your descriptions so it's easier for us to find each other.

The yahoo group I posted above has been super quiet lately, unfortunately. The heirloom seed swap site seems more active.
