Its too bad my MIL is too old to get online, she was a streamess by trade. I can not sew to save my life. My kids can hand sew better than me.
Believe it or not, my kids will ask my husband to do sewing, With his mom being a sewer by trade, he can sew enough to get by,which is more than I can say about myself.
Feel free to ask, and I can always attempt to ask my mother in law the questions, but it may take a day or two to get answer back.Real Name: Theresa

I can sew a button on and sew up a small hole but for everything else I use super glue
Hopefully, you can learn better than I can.

Thanks for the offer HappyCappy.
I started on my paddle cover/carrier yesterday and realised I didn't even have half the materials I needed, lol. I went to the fabric store today and got everything, or so I think! They're so helpful there, it's great.
My machine has a button holer which, although I haven't used it for a project, is fun to play with!
I plan to start cutting and pinning today and sewing tomorrow if I have time, wish me luck!

Wishing you luck!
My daughter wants to be crafty, and she recently bought a pillow you have to sew together, and it is not complete yet, but I think she's about 50% done. That reminds me, I should remind her to finish it......Real Name: Theresa

I have been sewing since i was 11 years old and designing since i was in high schoold....i can help you out.
The best thing to do i think is use a store bought pattern...if you go to Fabricland lets say, they have a lot of pattern books to choose from. go with something like "simplicity" or "new look" patterns. They tend to be a lot easier. It will also say "easy" on the pattern.
Try to pick something that is easy for you, and follow the instructions. make sure you ready EVERYTHING, including what symbols mean.
let me know if you have any more questions...always happy to help
