| Junior Beaver | From the canada.com website... By visiting www.gasgouge.ca, drivers can type in what they paid for gas that day and with the click of the mouse they will be told what the price should have been and how much profit their over-paying generated for the gas industry. (The calculation takes into account normal profit margins.)My results (10th of May): Your gas prices are 15.9¢ per litre above the normalized cost of 95.1¢ per litre in Montreal ![]()

I like the site, but is this "extra amount" including the Canadian Goverment profit such as gst and extra. If you look at the usa whom buys their gas from us, it's cheaper to buy in the USA than in Canada, and I read it's because the taxation on gas in Canada is higher than the USA. |

| Junior Beaver Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: North Vancouver, BC | At a price of $1.21 per litre, you are paying 26.5¢ per litre in pure excess profit. Across Canada, an extra margin of 26.5¢ per litre generates an additional profit of 26.5 million dollars per day. and at $1.21/litre, that's the cheapest it's been in two weeks... It's just outrageous what we're paying.

| Wise Beaver Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Somewhere not warm enough! | Well this is all interesting....I filled up the truck yesterday for our trip this weekend knowing that the gas prices would jump due to the long weekend. Funny how they say that gas prices have nothing to do with long weekends but the price always goes up...Here in Calgary we get gouged bad during the stampede as well.anyways..the price of fuel here yesterday was 1.12....28.9 cents above what it should be....this morning one day closer to the long weekend gas went to 1.16.......32.9 cents above!!! Definatley being gouged bad..dont think I have ever put 92$ worth of fuel into our truck before...thank god I filled it yesterday!

| Smart Beaver | Our gas here (Nothern Alberta) is $1.215 which is 38.1¢ per litre in pure excess profit according to the chart. Would be nice if they would quit lining their pockets and give back to the consumer. |
