Default Pet Fish

Who here has a Aquarium and what kind of fish do you have?

I have a 130 Gallon Tank with 10 fish.
4 Silver Dollars
6 Clown Loaches
2 Plecos
1 Firemouth
1 Convict
1 Blue Agava

I did have an Oscar, but he was trying to eat my baby clowns. So I need to grow my clowns for a year before placing another aggressive oscar in.

I had a minnow when I was a kid I had him for quite a while....I think like 8 months or something.

I want another tank I'm addicted. I want a tank of africans. Just no real space for another larger tank though.

I used to have a ***** fish tank,(15 gallon) but I had to move and things were never the same after that. One day I would like to try a salt water tank. Not sure how big I would go. Any suggestions?

Not sure on the salt thing. I'm still having fun with a heated fish tank.

All I know the bigger the better for upkeep. Less cleaning. The smaller the tank the quicker your water becomes high in Nitrates which can make fish sick or dead.

With my heated 130 gallons I do a water change every 10 days or so, and I use what is called a PYTHON Fish Cleaner. It's the coolest thing. Takes about an hour.

I would love a salt tank. But where I live its a 5 hour drive to a pet store that actually stocks and knows something about salt water tanks.

Bought DH a 5 gallon hex tank last X-mas, and he loves it. The 2 tiger barbs died last year, but he has replaced them and has

*big pleco
*upside down catfish that is getting almost as big as pleco
*zebra and leopard danyos
*some other kind of tiny catfish
*something that looks like a minnow with a red spot on it
*

I have 2 tanks. One has sharks and the biggest plechy I have ever seen, lol. The other one just has female guppies (theyre so colorful) and a small plechy. I'm actually hoping to buy a bigger tank (at least a 33 gallon) to get into saltwater. Saltwater is so beautiful, I cant wait...

I have a 50 gal. fish tank given to me by my son-in-law. He went up to a 100 gal. In 2 years I have cleaned it only once. I have had such good luck with it. I have a pleco, molly, zebras and tuxedo tetras. They are causing a population explosion in my tank. Late this summer I noticed what I thought was food flecks or something floating around. The flecks turned out to be babies- 13 to be exact. Now, just the other day I noticed another 3 tiny babies swimming around. If this keeps up, it will be a long time before I have to buy any new fish. Also about three months ago I had a red coloured beta in a vase with a plant. I decided to put him in the tank with the other fish. He is doing extremely well. This you can do as long as you don't put betas together, they will fight to death. He is a very social fish with other species though. My tank was the best addition in my house, I love it!!

WOW.....I didn't know that about betas.....
I knew they fight eachother I just didn't know you could put them in a community tank.

We found our 20 gallon fish tank about 5 years ago, sitting outside the house where we had an apartment. It had been sitting for several weeks outside the apartment that had apparently been abandoned by our former neighbours in the night. The tank was so green I just assumed that nothing could live in there, but one day I passed by and saw a flash of orange. Sure enough, there were goldfish - alive and well, and they had been living off the green algae for several weeks. My husband and I decided that instead of leaving the fish out in the rain in their dark green prison, we'd bring them into our tiny place and clean their water and feed them proper fish food. When the water cleared, we discovered that there were three large goldfish. One of them is still alive today.
