School back soon????

I know they just got out but I am going crazy already. At 9 in the morning they are bored. We just got back from 2 weeks on the east coast you would think they would have alot to do. Am I the only mom feeling this way. ????

mine are the same way... summer break is the teachers way of punishing the parents for what ever our kids did wrong all year.... kidding,.. but seriously what do I do with them all day??? they are already board of swimming, their friends are getting on their nerves (and mine) and there is still 6 weeks to go

Well, I don't have the kids being bored as my problem (as I don't have any). However, I am finding myself bored to death. I can't wait to get back to College in September. I know I'll probablly be wishing for holidays once I have countless research papers to write and tests to study for, but as of right now I would rather be doing that then, sitting around doing nothing for another month and a half.

Wow what happened to back in the day when we were kids?? Actually I'm probably older than some of you but we always found things to do.. We didn't have computer, we didn't have video games.. We were always out picking berries, or going to the park or involved in crafts.... Now if it doesn't involve computer or video?? kids are bored very easily..LOL.. I guess that's where I got my talent for music, sewing, knitting..

The word "Bored" is a dirty word in my house and usually equalls CHORES.
So now they tell me "We have nothing to do, and No I don't want to clean".

For those that live out in the country: See if you can find someone with some old lumber, and tell the kids to build a treehouse or a playhouse of their own. I was an only child at home ( my siblings are much older than I ) So that's what I spent my summers doing, building and tearing down.

Do a Scavenger hunt. ( If you do it one day set up what to find) then they will do it themselves after that.

Board Games/ Card Games. I think Kids forget these were even invented.

I'm the oldest of 5 so I spent my summers babysitting the 4 younger ones (for free) thats what kept me busy all summer and when I was to young to stay home I went to day camp all day, when I got home I was out playing at the park untill the street lights came on.

the school across the road from me is having a ymca camp, maybe check out the schools in your area to see whats going on and they have baseball etc, my son is l5 and is bored he wont go to these things and swimming just up the street........

I simply love your attitude Cappy ! Sometimes, I SAID SOMETIMES.. lol !! I wish my sons were younger and still in the nest. (what the ##@$% am I saying :?????: ) anyway, summers I kept mine busier than a fart in a bottle.. tee hee.

No way were mine going to get caught up in the crap on the streets if I could help it. But with a couch potato husband with a convertor growing out of his hand it was not easy being both Mom and Dad. I did have a fast paced career on the go as well, let's just say I went through alot of tires with my sons. I am not saying that they were angels, oh they weren't but I was right there up their noses - nothing went undisciplined, and what they independently loved the most was the first to go.

Sports were introduced as soon as they could crawl - and they loved them. Not bragging but at 33, 31 and 29 they still participate and still love them. From hockey arena to soccer field to baseball diamond to Tball, to the track then to bowling then out of the city to a rep game or tournament. There was always a pool, a park for them to gather friends for us to play a game, or watch a game. The 3 of them kept me in shape thats for sure.

Summer was no different - they had their own responsibility to clean up after themself, that was a given. Allowance was for their share in our home, don't contribute, then you have NO money to spend. Their was always extra chores to do for extra money, or to save it up for special things they just had to have.. like those 200 $ shoes ..

There was no true time for boredom, but if they were then of course their work was not done, and I think every home with more than 1 child has a snitch... but with jobs specific the undone deed always pointed at the one culprit. With home computer just starting Commodore 64 .. omg. lol, and throwing a baseball around or playing a sport ~ not many times they were bored; and neither was I
