Depending on details and such I might be interested but it would have to be something that's set up soon so I can budget in etc. Hubby needs to buy parts for the van so that of course comes first but depending on what the details of this is I might be able to participate

Just a simple exchange.....could be candies, a hand made card, a tea towel, just a simple exchange....could even be unused samples/freebies that were obtained through the year!

OK everyone!! Anyone who wants to join in, PM me with your name address and CFS forum name.
This will not be as big as the Secret Santa! I say no more than $10. (If there are issues with that price PM me and we will match based on what you can/want to pay) And be careful what you buy because you have to consider postage.
We will set the deadline to mail your Valentine as February 1, 2011. That gives us 14 days to get gifts and iron out any kinks.
Let's have fun!!

Not enough people seem to want to do this. Sooo, unless I hear from more CFS members by tomorrow morning this will not happen.

I wouldn't mind doing it but I found with the Santa exchange it was so expensive for mailing. I tried keeping mine flat as I thought it would cut down on shipping cost but where you had to get the tracking number the price whet way up. It would have cost like a dollar something just sent regular but with the tracking went up to $13. And then Bloomingrose with mine in a box that was a good size and had weight and she ended up paying the same as I did with my flat one.
Not sure if this interests anyone or not or if it would encourage more people to do - what if we did some sort of card exchange or we could even get more original and actually 'make' a card or valentine for someone. Then the cost factor would be down and if it was actually made, it would be kinda cute to see how creative everyone could be and what ideas they came up with??? Just a thought.
And then too, it wouldn't really matter if it was five people or 20 people?

Can I just ask where you sent yours from? I go to the post office for shipping and I never have to pay for tracking numbers, it's always on the receipt I get, no matter what I send, how big it is or where it's going. It's kind of weird that you had to pay for a tracking number and that it brought the total way up, Canada Post has never charged me for one. I have never minded paying the cost for shipping, and hubby has never minded me signing up for things like this, although this is the first non pregnant site I've actually done a gift exchange on, it's always been 'baby shower' type exchanges on the pregnancy forum I"m on lol.
Anyways I was going to do this, but at the time it was posted, it said that we had to ship by Feb 1st *I think* and there was no sign up deadline date given, and I personally felt that I didn't have time to get the item and shipped on time. Pay day isn't till this Friday so obviously I probably would have shipped late anyways.
It was a good idea, but given the details it wasn't feasable for me to do at this time. I'm thinking that maybe people aren't interested in doing things like this, as Valentines Day/easter etc aren't really days you exchange with other's outside of your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse. Maybe we should keep the gift exchange only for Christmas time? Or, at the very least, do a 'random' type exchange half way through the year, that way we could send summery type items etc? Just a thought

I had sent it from Dartmouth, NS - I don't send alot of parcels myself. I just told the girl at the post office that I needed to be able to track it and that was what I ended up with. Had I sent it the regular way, where it was the flat ornaments and gift card, it would have been treated like an oversized envelope as compared to an actual package and maybe that would be why no tracking number? Not sure.

Oh, so it was from a regular post office then. Hmm, weird - I was thinking maybe if you sent it somewhere other than a post office that maybe those places would charge. I only have a post office to ship stuff from in town so I have no idea about other places lol.. I've sent stuff in envelopes like that too and always got a tracking number and no charge?? That is so strange that you got charged x amount of money for one.
