Research Study examining how individuals with AS are diagnosed. We are looking for individuals who have been diagnosed with: Asperger Syndrome, or High Functioning Autism, or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (preference provided to those who have only one of those diagnosis). We are also looking for individuals who do not have a diagnosis of any kind to participate in our research. We are especially interested in recruiting adult males. The purpose of this study is to determine the accuracy and usefulness of current screening/diagnostic instruments for adults with Asperger Syndrome (AS). We seek to understand how (or if) these instruments discriminate between individuals with no diagnoses and individuals with different diagnoses. Each participant will be asked to complete several tasks (questionnaires and activities to provide insight into about your feelings, skills, and abilities) and upon completion of the study, you will receive up to $50 (i.e., $25 for each of two 3-hour sessions) for participating in this research. Participants from Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan are being recruited for this study. If you are interested in participating in this research project, please contact Dr. Montgomery by emailing asperger@cc.umanitoba.ca or calling 474-9629.
