A New Thread means You want to start a new conversation.

Click on it, and Say Hello and tell us something about yourself.
Now this button : is what you'll find in a Topic of conversation.

Now lets say your reading something, and you want to respond. So in Forum Lingo or Message Board Lingo That is called a
REPLY There are 2 ways to Reply. 1. One is at the top of the Thread ( Where you found New Thread) at the top Left hand corner. It will look like this: 
and it will open up the same kind of screen as CREATE A TOPIC, with the smiles on the side and all the fancy gadgets. 2. The Lazy Beaver way. Scroll to the Very bottom of the topic you are wanting to respond to And you will see "THE QUICK REPLY". Which is a blank box, you can type text into. Now We have a new button
which is found inside everyone's post. Bottom right hand corner of post.

ALSO IT HELPS Everyone know which one is a new freebie, when someone isn't bumping Threads 17 pages deep. How do you get all those smiles in posts? like this one?
Well if your starting a New conversation you'll automatically have them on the right hand of your post box.
If you use Quick reply the box at the bottom of every conversation you won't have them. But if you want to
reply using a smile, then you need to go to
Post reply or Use Advanced settings in the Quick Reply field.
