| Guest | I notice a lot of pet owners on this forum and with the concerns over the contaminated pet foods some owners are making their own pet foods so heres a couple of recipes -one for your cat and one for your dog. for cats 2 cups of cooked chicken quarter cup of carrot ,grated 1 cup cooked brown rice chop or grind chicken into small pieces.Mix chicken and carrots with rice.If there is any fat from chicken, pour about 2 teaspoons over the mix.Serve at room temperature. For dogs 3 cups cooked oatmeal or cream of wheat 2 cups cooked ground beef 2 tbsp plain yogurt 1 apple(small)cut into small pieces Mix together and serve at room temprature. |

| Guest | Doggy Hamburger Helper 1 cup hamburger meat, stir-fried in 1 tbsp canola oil 2 boiled eggs, chopped 1/2 cup cooked plain oatmeal 1 jar baby food green beans 1 jar baby food carrots 2 Tbsp cottage cheese Combine all ingredients and serve at room temperature. A good doggy multivitamin/mineral supplement may be added for good measure. Be sure to store unused portions in a covered container in the refrigerator and discard any remains after 3 days. Doggy Casserole 1 cup boiled poultry, chopped 1/2 cup cooked brown rice, I use minute rice brown rice 1/2 cup boiled mixed vegetables, I use veg-all 3 to 4 Tbsp unsalted chicken broth Stir together and serve at room temperature. A good doggy multivitamin/mineral supplement may be added for good measure. Be sure to store unused portions in a covered container in the refrigerator and discard remains after 3 days. PUPPY MEATLOAF INGREDIENTS: * 1 pound ground beef * 1 (24-ounce) container cottage cheese * 4 eggs * 1/2 cup dry milk powder * 1/4 cup wheat germ * 8 slices oatmeal bread, crumbled * 8 cups cooked oatmeal * 4 cups cooked brown rice PREPARATION: In very large mixing bowl, combine ground beef and cottage cheese; blend well. Add eggs, milk powder, and wheat germ and mix. Then add the crumbled bread, oatmeal, and brown rice and mix well. Divide among ten small (5-1/2" x 3-1/2") aluminum loaf pans. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour. Cool at room temperature for 1 hour, then promptly refrigerate. This food is perishable, so don't store it in the fridge longer than three days. We always froze all but one of the loaves. To defrost, let them stand in the refrigerator overnight. Crumble the meatloaf into a bowl, drizzle with some water, and microwave for 20-30 seconds until warm. Make sure the food doesn't have hot spots after microwaving, as your pet will gobble this up! Make sure to discard any food that has been sitting out for 30 minutes or longer. CHICKEN & RICE DELIGHT 1 whole chicken (okay, this one is cooked) 1/2 bag wild brown rice (cooked in with the chicken) 1 C Quick Oats small can of sweet peas or cooked fresh peas. *optional Puppy Porridge one healthy homemade meal!!!! 1 cup of oatmeal(cooked) mashed carrots(cooked) veggie babyfood 1 teaspoon of sugar First, mix the oatmeal, carrots, and baby food together and then add the sugar.Next, tell your dog he is the sweetest dog in the world and then serve. Doggie Ice-Cream 2 cups vanilla yogurt Mashed bananas 2 tablespoons honey Mix ingredients and freeze in ice cube tray. Voila.. sweet, cool bitesize treats for your pooch! |

| Diva Beaver | I'm willing to try all of these recipes... right now it costs close to $100 a month to feed our pug... as he is allergic to corn and its many products (gluten, meal, flour, syrup, etc...) But, is anyone aware if these recipes can be used as a daily menu and not just a treat once in awhile?!? I worry that some nutrients would be lacking. |
