This is one of my new original recipes for this year's Halloween bash. It truly is quite disgusting...but very effective and tasty to boot. For an adult party I would use a more "adult" pudding. Maybe a creme caramel or creme brulee. A suggestion from a similar recipe that I find too over the top (but you might not) is to line the sides of the bowl (or place around a footed dessert dish) torn facial tissue with a few of the "snots" on it along with a little red food coloring to make it look even grotesque. Ugh. Feel free to dye the pudding into a disgusting color, or to gently swirl two different packages...butterscotch and red dyed vanilla, pistachio and butterscotch, banana and chocolate, butterscotch and green dyed vanilla, vanilla and pistachio, make pleasant tasting mixes that look great together. If you are using more than one package of pudding (depending on how many monsters you want to feed) just double, triple, or multiply the "snots" as needed. 1 package prepared pudding mix spooned into individual bowls 1/2 cup milk 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1/4 cup oatmeal green food coloring Place the milk, brown sugar, and vanilla in a small saucepan. Heat until the milk starts to simmer and the sugar dissolves. Add the oats and cook for 4 minutes for quick oats or 9 minutes for regular oats, or until the oats are very soft and gooey. Take the oats in very small batches and roll into small "snot" shapes. With a toothpick add some detail with green food coloring if desired. Place on wax paper and let cool to room temperature. Before serving the puddings, spread the "snots" evenly over the pudding. |
