Okay, where do I start?! I guess at the beginning would be a good place.
My name is Vanessa and I am a WAHM of three beautiful girls. I have just recently started my own photography business as well.
I joined Canadian Free Stuff way back in July of 2010 while surfing the internet for freebies one day. I was a stay-at-home mom looking for ways to save a little money. I have been always told that there is nothing for free, but you know what? There are TONS of free stuff just waiting for us to claim them. What I call “true” freebies, no strings attached, no hidden charges, etc.
I would suggest you create a new email for all those freebies, deals, contests, etc that will be coming through because they tend to fill up that email pretty fast once you get started.
The first freebie that I received from Canadian Free Stuff was a magnet(for x number of posts on our forum) with their logo on it. I was over the moon happy. My first real freebie. I had never gotten anything absolutely free like this before. Then it was a gorgeous silver ring with “love” written on it. Then a silver necklace, and so on. I eventually reached my post count and had earned all these free things.

Then CFS was holding this “Chat-to-Win” Contest and I gave it my everything. I was on a roll now….I won about 10 gorgeous necklaces in total, similar to this one, except they were dragonflies, butterflies and arrows.

I used these wins to add to my gifts for my family and even my kids’ teachers for Christmas. I even won an Hello Kitty Watch exactly like the one pictured below that my daughter still wears to this day.

At first my husband was very skeptical, as was I, but he was soon convinced that these things were actually free and there was a different way of living that could save us big money. I still haven’t gotten around to couponing much between all the other things going on in my life right now, but plan on doing just that when my youngest is off to Kindergarten in the fall. I usually stick with the FPC(free product coupons).
Each day more and more free items started to fill up my mailbox. I received so many free things over the last two years that I have literally lost count.
Right off the top of my head are as follows;
Haircare products, make-up, food, pet treats, cards, books, DVD’s, tons of free calendars, gum, kids items, jewellery, and even lingerie.
I won several contests that were posted about on Canadian Free Stuff. My first big win was the Dolce Gusto Coffee Machine.

The list of freebies continued to grow as did my contest wins.
I will not go into every little thing because one, there isn’t enough time, and two, I will probably bore you to death.
I decided to grab my camera and take a few pics of just a few of the things I have laying around my house from this month.
FPC’s(Free Product Coupons)

Lingerie anyone? I won this 4-piece set from a contest that was blogged about at CFS;

Random freebies from around my house. I have a ton more but just don’t have time right now to gather them all together.

Eventually I became a blogger for Canadian Free Stuff, thanks to Theresa. It was her who showed me how to find these awesome freebies, deals, contests, etc. The average person would never know where to start unless someone like her and CFS was there to help. We can’t forget about all the other awesome members that are always there to help with any questions you may have. Cheetah, the coupon queen is the one to go to for all your couponing questions for sure.
My advice to anyone that wants to get started is, just DO IT. Just like Nike!! lol. Seriously, it can be done and done well.
I joined Canadian Free Stuff way back in 2010 and have never looked back since.

That’s wonderful Katherine!!
Waiting for things to go on sale is key to couponing. Congrats on the Lysol Soap Pump. I was not lucky enough. :(
Keep requesting and building those coupons and the freebies and deals keep adding up.

Hi, there!
I have started getting some freebies lately, although there are some I have never received, either. I did get the Kashi crackers coupon, but I haven’t used it yet because I only recently discovered that they’re in Shoppers Drug Mart. I have won some contests, recently the Lysol hand soap pump. The coupons are usually for a really decent amount. I love to wait for things to go on sale, and then put down that big $ coupon, especially the OTC things, such as sinus and headache meds. Thanks so much for your great site!

Hi Vanessa,
How are you today?I’m sorry if I upset you or any of the people who are a part of this site.I was only making a ststement about some things I’ve noticed on other sites and maybe I should have kept my comment to myself.Anyway ,ever since I made the comment I’ve been bombarded with e-mails about what I said.I am a member of this site also and I love it.I would appreciate it though if you could take my comment about freebies off this page.I think some people are really upset with me.and I have never had a falling out with anyone in my life.Thank you very much,Muriel.

Yes, the average person CAN definintly get many freebies. I was the average person about two years ago. Just surfing the web for freebies does not work. You have to sign up and register at a good freebie site(like CFS. :)). Keep checking back daily and “like” the page to be kept up-to-date on those flash giveaways.
When you register on our site, just click the “new” posts buttons to see any new posts of the day. Our regular poster “Duckieplay” is usually up at the break of dawn posting those awesome freebies and deals or coupons.
I can only talk about my personal experience. I was very skeptical at first but once the freebies started coming I was convinced. Almost every day there is some little thing in my mailbox that I received because of something that was posted here.
Canadian Free Stuff is the perfect place for anyone that wants to get started just like I did. You will probably get some things by surfing the web yourself, but with a forum and FB page all the freebies are at one convenient place. Makes it so much easier and less time consuming.
Good luck Muriel and everyone else that wants to get started on the road to freebies. :)
And Aly3360: You are very welcome. :)

Muriel,
I don’t have a freebie site, I like you have just signed up on various sites and forums like CFS. I check the site a few times a day (doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to browse new posts and see if there’s something worth checking out). Sometimes I get lucky and sometimes i don’t. You just have to keep trying :)
There are a few freebies up right now that are still open like the Downy unstopables.

Muriel: I’m the owner of this site, and you wouldn’t believe how much stuff I don’t ever receive……. I still haven’t gotten the Kashi crackers coupon, I don’t receive much compared to others,…..because I don’t always have the time. This site is so time consuming, and for me It’s work over play, so I personally don’t enter as much as the others. It has nothing to do with owning a site to get freebies – Yes once in a while there’s an advantage ( such as a Referral contest or freebie) but this is not the “NORM”….. We’re ( I know for myself) I don’t have any special connection to the companies that give out free samples, or don’t have a special connection to the “FREEBIE GODS”……
the Secret – Is check out CFS every day – sometimes 3 times a day…especially if there’s going to be a flash giveaway coming up…. ( for these make sure you belong to our Facebook page, and participate so you’ll be sure to “see” every update we do on the page. ( As facebook has done changes, and you will not see everything we post, unless you participate)
See our Getting Started Post: http://www.canadianfreestuff.com/starting-point/
Don’t think “NORMAL” people get stuff: Come check out our Mail day’s on the forum……these people are average joes, just like you…. http://www.canadianfreestuff.com/forum/f57/mailman-delivers-what-came-your-mailbox-today-39140/

Hi Vanessa, nice to meet you.I have signed up to almost every freebie site in Canada you can think of,even this one.I never get any freebies ,not even here.I’m usually too late or they are all gone or something else.I don’t know how you do it.I browse the freebie sites and mostly I see are people who own the sites are always posting a list of stuff they got in the mail ot stuff they won.It seems to be harder for the ordinary person like myself who don’t have her own freebie site to win or get any freebies. If there is a nack to it ,I sure would appreciate it if you could teach me,then some day I will be commenting about how you showed me.I would like to get a response from you on this subject if you want to.Your friend,Muriel.
