Green Bottle Review and Giveaway USA & Canada (05/19) Canadian Giveaway
If you are one those people that buy plastic one-time use water bottles, please read this review! The information I am about to give you will change your mind forever about plastic water bottles use.
Did you know that one-time plastic water bottles may leach harmful chemicals into you drinking water? Chemicals like BPA (bisphenol A), harmful carcinogens, phthalates and other terrible chemicals. Especially if you leave your plastic water bottle in your car where it can be exposed to heat. These chemicals have been linked to illnesses like liver disease and even cancer.

Back in December I discovered a wonderful company that makes stainless steel water bottles. The company is called the Green Bottle. The Green Bottle parent company Pure and Simple Solutions is dedicated to producing eco-friendly, affordable and safe re-useable water bottles.
All Green Bottles are made of 18/8 (304) grade stainless steel which is non-corrosive and 100% consumer safe. This is a food container grade of stainless steel which means it will not transfer any taste or smell to your beverage. I know once before I had purchased a re-useable water bottle and quickly discontinued using it because my water tasted like metal and had a funny smell to it. I now know that the bottle I was using must have been aluminum and that is why it had this effect. Some aluminum bottles have to be lined with enamel or plastic, but not the Green Bottle. It is all Stainless Steel.

Why is Stainless Steel better than aluminum?
While the properties of both metals can be safe for consumer products aluminum tends to transfer taste and smells when used for liquid storage. Because of this, our competitors use a plastic lining to reduce the absorption of taste and smell from certain liquids. Typically this lining is plastic which may contain chemicals such as BPA or phthalates that have shown to leech into food or liquids. Additionally, there have been recent studies that links aluminum to Alzheimer’s disease

I was ecstatic when the fine people at Pure & Simple Products agreed to have me do a review for them. I was sent two Green Bottles to try out for myself. I received a 25 oz wide-mouth bottle and a 20 oz backpack/purse size Green Bottle.
This is what they look like.

I love that both these bottles are really well made. They are sturdy and very well designed. The neck of both these Green Bottles is wide enough that you can even put ice-cubes into your water if you wish. Each Green Bottle came with TWO different caps. One sports cap and another cap that has a travel clip on it. This makes it really convenient to take your Green Bottle anywhere with you. The caps themselves are safe too. They are polypropylene which contains no BPA or phthalates. They are made of hard and heat resistant plastic and are consumer grade for food containers.
I drink a lot of water. In fact if you have read some of my other reviews you might remember that I gave up drinking pop of any kind over 2 years ago. Water, water, water always drinking water. I now take water to work every single day. The Green Bottles are so fashionable. In fact I usually just carry mine by the clip. I find it is a shame to hide it in my lunch bag. LOL.
Green Bottles are available in three different sizes 12 oz, 20 oz and 25 oz. They have a huge variety of different designs to chose from and even make customized bottles. You just have to supply the artwork, logo or idea and they will make it happen. Green Bottles would make a wonderful gift for absolutely anyone. Young or old, male or female. There are designs for the delicate flower type or the hard core sports fan. Oh and I should also mention that all the paints that Green Bottle uses are Non-Toxic Water-Based Acrylic Paints that contain absolutely No- Lead. (Sorry thought it was important to interject that as well) Fantastic idea for a school or organization fund-raiser too.

Everytime I go shopping I always think to myself that I should remember to pick up a bottle. I never remember or I think, “I’ll get it next time.” I stopped buying bottled water and have been using a regular glass when I exercise in the basement. Now that the weather is nice in the Northeast, this is posing a problem because I now w/out water while exercising. I would love a Green Bottle. I think the designs are fresh and fun. Design is completely practical and great for all ages. My fave is the Hibiscus design. I’m an orange and green person and hibiscus is one of those bushes I wish would do better here in the Northeast. Great product!

I *love* that you can get custom ones made with your logo. As a business owner, these would make great gifts to give new clients. Fantastic idea! I also love that they come in different sizes. And the colors are all fantastic. My favorite style is the Apple Blossoms. Gorgeous!
I love that they are stainless steel. I have a plastic-reusable one and I always worry about cleaning it. I want to be able to sterilize it with very hot water and I don’t know if that will ruin my bottle. With the stainless steel ones, you don’t have to worry about that. I also think it’s awesome that you can customize your bottles. This would be great for company giveaways or prizes because it’s a good quality item that is not making sure a bad impact on the environment.
I entered this contest hoping for a free Green bottle. When I considered how many plastic bottles I throw out yearly, I ordered two anyway. They haven’t arrived as yet but I’ll feel better using Britta Water Filters and not throwing more plastic bottles into the trash.

What a lot of people do not realize is that stainless steel contains nickel (which is a common allergen), among other metals. Over time one gets “used to” the metalic taste, the heavier weight, and the moisture on the outside caused by non-insulation.
And since paint doesn’t stick very well to metals, water bottles that have painted designs can be damaged.
Overall though it is far better for our environment to switch AWAY FROM Plastics! The impact of plastics on our planet have already caused irreversible damage.
I’m happy with my “Klean Kanteen” water bottle. To avoid the condensation as these bottles are also not insulated, I have an insulated tote I put it in.
And I have the reassuance from KK that the electropolished finish seals the surface and prevents minerals from migrating into the contents.
I guess the main issue here is finding a safe and suitable alternative to plastic which is an ongoing threat to environmental safety.

I always have a ‘safe’ bottle (and coffee mug) in my bag, but I’ve not been happy with the the way the bottle drips while I drink. I’ve been looking at styles similar to the ones they offer in the Green Bottle site, thinking they may perform better, so this is a very timely posting. What lovely designs they have … how does one choose?! I think I’d start with the 20 oz Spring Forward, the 25 oz Orchid, and 12 oz Morning Glory, since I would love to have a variety of sizes for different purposes around the house and on my outings.
I like the idea of going green and if the water does not taste like tin, then i am there. I like the look of the apple blossom bottle.

Wow, how cool are these bottles!! I love that they have a variety of sizes and that they’re quite large. Often my hubby and I share a bottle of water and it’s never very big, but these would be perfect. It was difficult to choose my favourite design but I think I like the “Blue on Blue”(though the “Busy Bee” design is cute too!)
