Today I am going to tell you about a wonderful company called Jenulence. Jenulence is a small family-owned company that was established in February of 2003. They take great pride in creating all natural and organic skin care product and cosmetics.
Did you know that many cosmetics that us ladies apply to our skin contain harmful, harsh chemicals that can actually get absorbed into our bodies! I have always used a liquid foundation and loose finishing powder. Until now I have never really given any thought to what I am putting on my face. I guess I just assumed that because it was readily available on store shelves it was safe. I had no idea there was significant differences between cosmetic ingredients. Well school is now open and I am going to hopefully teach you something new today. Here are some facts that I learned while exploring Jenulence.
Fact #1 So called 'natural cosmetic' often contains talc, which itself is a natural but toxic ingredient when used excessively or bismuth oxychloride, which is artificial white crystalline filler that gives smooth feel to the powders, but indeed is a byproduct of lead and copper processing.
Jenulence Fact-Our mineral makeup doesn't contain talc, fragrances, preservatives or any synthetic fillers. It is always safer to use loose mineral cosmetics and mineral make-up, especially if you allergic to commercial eye shadows and other cosmetics or have any other chemical sensitivities.
Fact #2-"Bismuth oxychloride is considered a skin irritant and can cause itching and rashes and in large amounts it can cause cystic acne as well – it's one of the ingredients you should try to avoid if you have acne or rosacea or sensitive skin"
Jenulence Fact-Our mineral cosmetic DOES NOT contain micronized minerals (nano-particles), bismuth oxychloride (which is a byproduct of lead and copper processing), FD&C, D&C or Aluminum Lake dyes, waxes, preservatives or fragrances.
Fact #3-One of the factors that makes mineral makeup so popular is the smooth, natural, long-lasting coverage -- a feat that's some companies accomplish by pulverizing or "micronizing" their minerals into microscopic or even nanoparticle size. Minerals like zinc and titanium are safe when applied to healthy skin but in a micronized nanoparticle form, there remains a concern, particularly when applied to damaged skin, or when inhaled
Jenulence Fact-JenulenceTM loose mineral makeup handcrafted from crushed, non-micronized, purified minerals such as mica powder, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, iron and chromium oxides and ultramarines. These minerals are harmless to the human body when applied topically. The powder particles are too big to enter the body through the skin. These minerals have been used in cosmetics for hundreds of years and are already in every conventional lipstick, facial powder and eye shadow

Jenulence certainly has proven to me that they have nothing to hide. They have a full listing of all their ingredients right here.
I discovered that a average woman over her lifetime can absorb as much as FIVE POUNDS of different chemicals from cosmetic and skin care products. YUCK!! All of Jenulence products are 100% natural and do not overload the body with toxic substances. Their products are synthetic free, have no preservatives and they only use food grade oils and aroma therapy grade essential oils.
There motto says it all: "if you can’t eat it, don’t use it on your skin"
Jenulence carries a wide assortment of different products. Products like Mineral Makeup for your face, cheeks, eyes and brows. Cosmetic brushes, toners, moisturizers, body oils, lip balms, cleansers, masks. They even have a line of products just for men and handmade wooden sauna sandals. You really should take some time and have a good look around the Jenulence website. The variety that is available is amazing.
I was recently given the opportunity to put Jenulence to the test. I received a lovely package containing Jenulence Mineral Foundation Concealer, Mineral Blush, and two shades of Mineral Eye Shadow. I was so excited to finally see for myself the difference between my regular liquid foundation and Mineral makeup. The products each come in a handy sifter style jars. The whole set can fit is the palm of your hand. My first thought was wow, this is going to be really easy and convenient to carry around with me. Sure will be a lot lighter in my purse that’s for sure. The lids of the jars twist off easily but stay safely secured if you just throw them in your handbag.

The Jenulence Mineral Foundation Concealer I received was the Seashell shade. At first I thought is was going to be a little light for my skin tone even though I am quite fair. I was wrong. It is perfect. All you have to do to apply mineral foundation is sprinkle a small amount into the lid of the sifter jar and then apply it using a proper mineral foundation brush. This is considered a dry application but you can also try out a wet application. Jenulence explains how to properly apply mineral foundation here. Check it out here. I was amazed at how little of the mineral powder you actually have to use. With Mineral Foundation "Less is definitely more". If you apply too much you loose the natural look. Jenulence is right when they suggest applying thin light layers. If you have never tried Mineral foundation before there is a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get it the results can be fantastic. What I love about Jenulence Mineral Foundation is you don’t even realize you are wearing makeup. It is so light feeling on your skin. You don’t have that heavy caked on feeling that some traditional liquid foundations give you. It feels like my skin can still breathe and is not all covered up. I wondered while sitting out on sunny back porch if my skin was too exposed?? I was thrilled to find out that because mineral makeup contains Titanium dioxide and Zinc Oxide, you get the added bonus of a little sun protection. I believe that it is estimated to be around a SPF-25. Cool. The coverage of Jenulence Mineral Foundation/Concealer is wonderful. I have very uneven and sometimes even blotchy skin and this mineral foundation covers beautifully. I can apply a little extra where needed but still get a natural (not made-up) look. This is perfect for summer. I always hated standing in direct sunlight and my daughter commenting on how ugly my traditional foundation looked. Not any more. Mineral foundation looks natural in any light and is so easy to take with you for a quick touch up. I love that it gives me a matte finish.

The Mineral blush that I received was in Currant shade from Jenulence’s Satin Collection. "I love it" It is a little more pinky in tone than I usually wear but I think coming into the summer it really brightens my complection. It is described as a matte blush but I find it has a very subtle shimmer to it which you notice when out in natural sunlight.

My favourite by far is the Jenulence eyeshadow. I don’t go a day without eye makeup. However before mineral eyeshadow there were some days after working a 13 hour shift that I looked more like a raccoon than a human being. Jenulence mineral eye shadows are so soft and gentle on my eyes. I simply use a soft brush to apply the background colour (in my case Ice Cream) and a finer more precise brush for the accent colour (Deep Brown) You only have to use such a tiny bit of Mineral eyeshadow to get amazing colour. A fraction of what I use to use. It blends wonderfully and I found that if you accidentally apply too much you can easily just apply the lighter shade right over top and it blends really well to light your look up. I don’t even need to buy eyeliner anymore! I just dampen my liner brush and pick up a few particles of mineral eyeshadow and use it to line my eyes. It gives a nice soft effect and really stays put throughout the day. Oh that brings me to another really great thing about Jenulence Mineral makeup it gives you great oil control and is water and sweat proof too. The whole collection that I received gives me a natural yet well covered look that really lasts. All of Jenulence cosmetics are natural and are completely hypo allergenic. All products are cruelty-free and environmentally friendly.
I know once you try Jenulence products you are going to love them and you don’t have to make a big investment to try them out. They offer a nice range of different size containers to get you started. You can choose a sample size, trial size, economy size or full size for most of their foundations, blushes and eyeshadow. Prices range from approx. $1.00 to $20.00. Not bad at all!
