New Layers by Scentsy Review & Giveaway (06/30/12)

As many of you already know, I am a huge Scentsy fan. For those of you who are not familiar with the Scentsy Company let me give you a little background information.

Scentsy Wickless offers a variety of safe, effective, decorative home and personal fragrance products. They do this by selling their products through a network of more than 180,000 Independent  Consultants running home based businesses in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ireland. One of their most popular and well known items is their Scentsy Wickless warmers. These are beautifully crafted, ceramic warmer that when plugged in gently warm a saucer of scented wax to fill your home or office with fragrance. These warmers are safe, reliable and perfect for any decor. They are available in a variety of different sizes, shapes and designs. You can choose from over 80 different scented wax bars and I personally have about 14 right now.  You can never have enough.

INTRODUCING THE NEW LAYERS COLLECTION BY SCENTSY

This brand new collection consists of nine different personal and laundry care fragrance products. There is Shower Gel, Shower Cream, Body Butter, Body Lotion, Hand Cream, Body Spray, Solid Perfume, Washer Whiffs and Dryer Disks. What is even more exciting is that the new Layers Collection is available in six delicious scents. You can pick your personal favourite scent or mix and match them to create your own unique fragrance. You can choose from Coconut Lemongrass, Luna, Quiver, Love Story, Enchanted Mist or Sugar Cookie.

This week I had the opportunity to try out some of the new Layer by Scentsy collection. The first item I just couldn’t wait to try out was the Sugar Cookie Body Spray. At first I was a little aprehensive, since many body sprays and perfumes can cause me an instant headache. Hence the reason I have been wearing the same scent for almost 20 years.

Sugar Cookie: Warm, sweet blend of butter, sugar and creamy vanilla

I was really impressed by the size of this bottle. It is 4.4 fl oz. /130ml.  A great value at just $10.00 each. The body spray pump gives off a fine mist and you are immediately enveloped with the warm scent of sugar cookies. This to me is a sweet and relaxing aroma that just sort of lingers all day long. It is not too over-powering, however it might be if you over-apply it. One fine squirt is all you really need. (well maybe two if you really love cookies or are feeling a little hungry) LOL . I found that there was no need to re-apply it during the day. I like that is not as strong as a full strength perfume but at the same time loved that it didn’t fade away after a few hours. I also love that it is a fraction of the price of my regular scent.

The next product I had the pleasure of trying was the Layers by Scentsy Shower Gel.  This time around the scent is called Quiver.

Quiver: Innocent vanilla flower, warm sandalwood, sultry tuberose in a seductive scent, ment to cause a shiver of delight.

The shower gel comes in a 8 FL OZ. /237 ml bottle and I really like the easy grip design.  There is nothing worse than dropping a slippery bottle of body wash on your toe in the morning. OUCH!

The Layers by Scentsy Shower Gel has a light foaming action and leaves you with a soft hint of fragrance. It also contains vitamin B5 which is known to promote healthy skin. The Quiver scent is a little stronger when you first smell it, but once it is washed from your skin the reamaining fragrance is very pleasing and again not too over-powering. Since the Quiver scent also contains Vanilla I find it is a wonderful accompaniment to the Sugar Cookies Body Spray. They work well together even though they are very different scents. It left my skin feeling clean, refreshed and soft.  Another great product at just $11.00 per bottle. You can check out all the shower gels HERE.

Want a little extra moisturizer for your skin. Than the New Layer by Scentsy Shower Cream is what you need to try. This shower cream offers emollient soybean oils which enrich the cream to smooth and moisturize your skin in the shower. As the name implies this is a thicker, more cream like product. The first time I used it I thought it would be wonderful to use on my legs while shaving them.  It is rich and creamy and a little thicker consistency than the gel. Again the Quiver Scent is amazing.  It stuck me as a little bit masculine the first time I used it but I think that might be due to the sandalwood scent.  After my shower I was left feeling fresh and clean.  My skin was very soft and I had no need to apply extra moisturizer on my legs and arms. You could definitely just use the shower gel or shower cream, but I love the idea of layering the scents with another Scentsy products and making it all my own.

Last but certainly not least, I had the chance to try out the Layers by Scentsy Body Butter. If you have dry elbows, knees or even moisture -starved feet you have got to try this product.  This body butter is super rich and thick and smells amazing.  The scent I am trying out is called Luna and I love it.

 Luna: White florals- jasmine, sweet pea, and freesia- juicy berries and sandalwood shimmer like moonlite.

I think I like this scent so much because I love the scent of freesia.  I find it is such a fresh, yet calming scent. This combination of scents is very relaxing and I have found that I like to use this one just before bed. It gives me that extra boost of moisture to help soften those little ruff spots. The container is again a very nice size. NET WT. 6 OZ./183 g. ($14.00 each) I found that you need very little of this body butter.  It is thick when you first scoop some up on your fingers but quickly melts and goes a lot further than you would originally think. It contains aloe vera and shea butter which we all know is very soothing to your skin.

I have to say that I am very happy that Scentsy has expanded into personal frangrance products.  I have always enjoy using my Scentsy warmers thoughout my home but now I feel like my Scentsy frangrances are coming with me. Scentsy has shown me  how to really appreciate the sense of smell and how different “layers” of scent can create a whole new experience.

I can’t wait to try out the new Washer Whiffs and Dryer Disks. Then, not only will I smell amazing but my closet will too.
