Planet Forward Review & Huge Discounts

Do you still use plastic bags when shopping? Or have you made the change to reusable shopping bags? I hope the latter is true. I must admit when my local grocery store stopped handing out plastic bags for free I was a little put off. They started charging for bags and I wasn’t prepared to pay for plastic. I quickly made the change to reusable bags and never looked back. I consider myself a person who is generally eco-conscious and I try to do my bit to save the earth. I recycle and use reusable water bottles and also use environmentally friendly cleaning products thanks to discovering a great company called Planet Forward.

With an estimated number of 1-million plastic bags handed out worldwide each minute, it is time for change! Planet Forward has taught me that small everyday changes can make a very large difference.

I was recently given the opportunity by Planet Forward to try out one of their eco-friendly items. I selected the “Basket On-The-Go.” It is a sustainable, reusable shopping basket. This is what it actually looks like.

This basket is a great idea. I was so excited when I received it. It is a collapsable basket and that makes it really easy to take anywhere. You could use it for any type of shopping you do, but I must say it is perfect for produce shopping at the market. It is my new favourite accessory. It is so easy to open and I love that it is really deep too. It is not overly large in width which is really nice since I carry it on my arm and you don’t want to hit people as you pass them. It actually measures 19″ x 11″ x 10″, 9″. I think it is a perfect size. That said, it holds an enormous amount of fresh fruits and veggies. Yesterday I picked up three heads of romaine lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, blackberries, raspberries, as well as three apples and still had tons of room to add more. According to the Planet Forward ‘s information it will hold up to 48.5 lbs (22kg) Now that is a lot of produce.

I also really like that Planets Forwards Basket On-The-Go is so light weight. It is easy to carry and the aluminum handle has a nice soft non-slip grip on it. The whole thing only weighs about 2oz, but I can tell you it is really well made and durable. It is made of resilient polyester and has a strong aluminum frame. Planet Forward thought of everything when designing this basket. It has a handy zippered pocket inside the basket which I think would be great just to put your money or cards in. That way you don’t have to lug around your purse with you. Another great feature is the bottom is rigid and has little rubber feet on it. This makes it stay standing nice when you place it down on a surface and will keep the bottom of the basket from getting dirty and worn.

I stopped using plastic grocery bags some time ago, but must admit I still was using the clear fruit and vegetable bags found in the produce department. I always have used them to make sure that the produce I was going to purchase didn’t touch or get contaminated by other grocery items such as meats, dairy items or even by just sitting in the shopping cart. Now I have stopped using those little clear plastic bags too. I don’t have to worry any more with my new Planet Forward Basket On-The-Go. I can put the produce directly into the basket and it won’t touch anything else except other fruits and veggie. It is great, all my fresh fruits and veggie in one convenient place. When I get home I just carry the basket straight to the fridge and unload it. If I need to, I can simply clean the basket by using a damp cloth. The canvas-style material is so easy to maintain. You can even completely remove the basket from the frame and handle if you wish but I don’t find that necessary.

I think my Planet Forward Basket On-The-Go actually makes a loud statement too. “It tells everyone that I am conscious and doing my part to create a healthier, more sustainable world.” I like that. This fun and almost fashionable little basket is going to get a lot of use in my family for sure. It has brought a whole new meaning to BYOB (Bring your own basket)
