Learn more about Sears

Sears is a famous American chain of multinational department stores based in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, in Greater Chicago. This large chain was founded in 1893 by Alvah Curtis Roebuck and Richard Warren Sears, as “Sears, Roebuck & Company”. In the beginning, they started their business by launching a mail order catalog. The company has expanded its sales and profits since 1895, when Julius Rosenwald took control. The first Sears local store was opened in 1925. The company knew its ultimate success during the 1950s and 1960s.

Kmart acquired the company in 2005, and renamed it Sears Holdings. New headquarters was opened in the Sears Tower, in the early 1970s. Sears was considered the largest retailer in the United States until the late 1980s, when it was surpassed by Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, and Walmart. It was classed the fourth-largest department store company in the United States in terms of revenue.

  1. I find the sears online shopping experience to be super-frustrating. i’ve purchased good quality items on sale from them in the past, but the way the website it set up now makes it impossible to find the things that are on sale.

Even sorting from low – high doesn’t put them in actual order of low to high.

I follow the links from Canadian Free Stuff because it looks like there’s a big discount, and then I click on the flier and there’s nothing there, no sales section, I check the bedding and nothing is obviously discounted.

I have *wanted* to buy from sears so many times but they need to make it easier to find the actual sale stuff on their website. Frustrating!

  2. Been shopping Sears for years. Always happy with my purchases and in the event I find it necessary to return I love the no problem policy. Hope to shop Sears for many more years.
