So as you all know by now, I have a new addition to my family. My step-daughter is a proud new Mother of an adorable 4 ½ month old baby girl. My younger daughter is elated to be a first time Aunt and recently has had fun looking around the house for old treasures to share with her new niece.

She was going through a box in the basement the other day and came across some old stuffed animals. I couldn’t believe my eyes when she presented me with a very old bedtime buddy I had when I was a child. "Frederika The Frog" Frederika is a hand-crocheted, freaky-looking stuffed animal that for some bizarre reason was my best friend growing up. This long-legged toy went absolutely everywhere with me. It was had made by my best friends mother and we each had one. We would dress them up in doll clothes and at one time I think we even had a garden wedding for them. Awwh that was the good old days when we were so young and innocent.

Well back to the main reason I am writing this. Although it was wonderful to see old Frederika her name meant something quite different now. SHE really " reeked"!! I don’t just mean a little old and dusty in need of some freshening up.-"SHE REALLY SMELT BAD!" It was almost overpowering. It was the most powerful musty, mildew smell I had ever experienced. It was so bad I had to hold my nose.

I had just arranged to receive a bottle of Smelly Towel Cleaner to review and wondered if there was any hope for this poor decrepit amphibian.

Load in the towels and let it run the cycle. My big fear was if this didn’t work, was my whole washer going to smell like mold and mildew? I decided I wasn’t going to risk washing anything else along with "miss stinky frog" just incase. I set the washer for a small load and it started to fill with hot water. I usually use cold water to conserve energy but as I recently read on smellywasher.com, if you always use cold water you can cause a build up of detergent in your machine and that in itself can cause a breeding ground for smell and odours. So I threw in two of my older towels that I just use for cleaning around the house and carefully using only two fingers lifted the musty smelling Frederika into the washer. It was so bad I had to wash my hands before I even opened the Smelly Towel Cleaner Jar. Once opened the Smelly Towel Cleaner had a very pleasant garden fresh scent. I used the cap as a measure and sprinkled it into the water. I quickly closed the lid and carried on with some other chores. After my washing machine went into orbit for not having enough in it while going through the rinse cycle - I opened up the lid of the washer very slowly. "I was scared of how bad it was going to smell" I was thrilled!! It didn’t smell bad at all. It smelt clean and fresh. Now remember I didn’t add any detergent at all. Just one capful of Smelly Towel Cleaner. I took the two towels out and one soaking wet frog. I gave them all a good sniff. It was ok. I could hardly believe it. I threw them in the dryer and then gave the washing machine itself a good sniff. Nothing. It just smelt like it always does. Like clean laundry. Once the time was up I retrieved my old friend from the dryer and was so delighted that this over 30 year old stuffed animal had no lingering odour. All that over-powering musty-mildew smell was gone. Eliminated. Not just covered up with fragrance but gone! The towels and the frog had no odour. I couldn’t even smell the Smelly Towel Cleaner any more. I was truly amazed. Without the discovery of Smelly Towel Cleaner this frog would have been headed for the garbage for sure.
