Latest Staples News
Staples is set to close 140 stores across Canada as well as the United States this year. This number might even get up to as high as 255 depending on their forecasts and sale numbers at the end of the quarter.
Their sales have dropped, therefore forcing them to make this decision.
By the end of this year they will be closing 140 of those stores and focusing more on the online aspect of the business. There tends to be an increase in online sales while in store shoppers don’t seem to spending as much money as they once did.
It is said that sales have dropped nearly two percent. This does not go over well with Staples.
With that being said, there are some provinces that can look forward to a growth in business. There are no plans to shut down any store locations in Eastern Ontario or Brockville.
Word from the president of Staples Canada, Steve Matyas. announced that these businesses will see a growth of at least three percent if all goes as planned for this brand company.
So I guess it’s not all bad news for Staples shoppers. It just depends on where you live in the country and if you like to shop online or in store.
