Brush, floss, rinse. Brush, floss, rinse. Brush, floss, rinse. Have you completed your daily routine today? Everyone knows that the key to good oral health is keeping a clean mouth. We all wake up in the morning with the best intentions but sometimes life gets in the way and we just don’t take the proper time to clean our teeth properly.
Recently I have had numerous visits to the dentist. None of which I can say I really enjoyed. After having a terrible experience with what I like to call the root canal “from hell” I accentally cracked the $1,000.00 tooth in half and ended up having to have it extracted. Not a pleasant experience for anyone. I have always prided myself on taking very good care of my teeth but with these recent series of events I have really focused on what else I can do and how I can do it better.
I brush my teeth at least 4 times a day and for a longer period of time than most people I know. I use the Natural Dentist Rinse at least twice a day if not more and try to floss. There it is…… “try” to floss. I can’t say that this is part of the daily routine I enjoy. I find flossing a chore, but like most chores it just has to get done. Once you decide of the length of floss you want then you have to get it to break of the little metal tabby thing without fraying into a million little threads. Then wrap it around your fingers, but not too tight or they will start to turn blue. Now open as wide as you possibly can and wiggle that waxy thread between your teeth. You want to do a good job so you slowly move the floss up and down, but inevitably you slip and jam that little sucker up too high and wince with pain. Hopefully you don’t damage your gums or there will be blood! You give up and let go of the thread with one finger and just pull out the floss. You give up and promise to do better at bedtime. Sound familiar to anyone?
I hope so or I just made a fool of myself. :(
Well, if you have ever felt this way. If you want to find a better way to get that icky plaque from between your teeth then you are going to love this product.
Introducing…………
STIM-U-DENT PLAQUE REMOVERS

No strings attached. STIM-U-DENT Plaque Removers are pliable wooden cleaning tools you can take with you anywhere. They have a unique triangular shape that is specially designed to fit between your teeth to help you remove unwanted plaque and food particles. They also gently stimulate your gums to help fight gingivitis. STIM-U-DENT are made from biodegradable basswood (from managed forests).
I received two different versions of STIM-U-DENT Plaque Removers for review. Original size in a wonderful mint flavour and the thin version which is 38% thinner than the original. Since my teeth and very close together, I prefer the thin ones.

In comparison using STIM-U-DENT is much easier than traditional dental floss. They come conveniently packaged in little packs of 25 or 40 picks for the thin style. The package looks like a matchbook and opens in the very same way. Just break off a STIM-U-DENT pick and moisten it in your mouth. (This makes the wood pliable) Insert the pointed end between teeth with the flat side next to your gums. Use a gentle in and out motion to remove food particles from between your teeth. When you are done just simply discard the pick.
It is that easy. No fumbling around with floss rolls. No measuring out and cutting. No wrapping around your fingers and no awkward, funny faces. It is like using a toothpick, but so much better. The picks are thin, flat and shaped to do a better job than a toothpick. They get in, around and between your teeth. They are more pliable and easy to handle.

I love that these little packages can be thrown in your purse, pocket or glove compartment. You can take them anywhere and use them at anytime. However, I don’t recommend de-plaquing your teeth in public. That is just nasty. You can however use them throughout your day after or in-between meals or anytime you might be feeling you left a little something behind.
Tonight I came home to a wonderful meal of herb roasted potatoes and barbecue ribs. I love ribs, especially on a hot summer night, but hate the little stringy bits of meat that end up caught in-between my teeth. Immediately after dinner everyone in the family walked to their respective bathrooms to brush the annoying offenders away. Upon returning to the living-room, I found myself still trying to suck the last bit of residing meat from between two of my teeth. AWWWG- so annoying. I grabbed a thin STIM-U-DENT Plaque Remover and headed back to the bathroom. Within a second the annoyance was removed. Thank goodness. I continued to use this little wooden tool to clean between each of my teeth and was very pleased with how my teeth and gums felt. Sometimes I get too aggressive with the floss and end up having sore gums but not this time. The STIM-U-DENT was gentle and I felt more in control of how much pressure I was using and where.
Here is some more interesting facts;
They’re the most tested little pieces of wood in dental history and have been shown to work better than floss in reducing plaque, gingivitis and bleeding gums. STIM-U-DENT has beaten floss’ results in comparative clinical tests over the last 50 years; when used as directed, clinical studies support a 52% improvement in gum health. STIM-U-Dent also has the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance.
You can purchase STIM-U-DENT Plaque Removers in most major retailers nationwide. I actually saw them in Shopper’s Drug Mart just last week. The average retail price is $3.29.
For me, it is time to toss the floss and fight gum disease with STIM-U-DENT instead. It is fast, easy and effective which means I am more likely to use them more often. Even if I am in a rush in the morning and forget at least I have a package in my purse and can slip away to the bathroom while at work. No one will be the wiser and I know that I am dong the right thing for my teeth and gums.
