First things first, if you don’t already have Netflix I would highly recommend that you go about getting it. It’s free for the first month and only $7.99 for each month thereafter. So first step would be to make yourself a Netflix account here https://www.netflix.com
Once you have gone about making yourself a Netflix account, you will notice that there is a wide variety of titles currently over 7000 and a ton of different categories, but you will also notice that there isn’t a lot of recent content added, whereas on Netflix USA there are currently 10473 titles, almost double the amount that we are Canadians are able to get with new content being added all the time.
To get a Netflix USA account, you have to purchase a subscription to a DNS service; I would highly recommend UnoDns which can be found here
There is a free trial available for 8 days, after your 8 day trial you have to pay 4.99, which brings your total monthly bill for Netflix to 12.93 a month, this is far cheaper than any cable or satellite provider and on top of that, you don’t have to deal with commercials.
If you want to use Netflix on one of your gaming systems, please use the following setup guide.
– Make sure your Wii is connected to the internet
– Select Wii options
– Select wii settings
– Click the right arrow once to view the internet option, click internet
– Go to connection settings
-Select the connection profile you are currently using
– Select change settings
-Select auto-obtain DNS settings, you will need to click the arrow three times until you see auto-obtain DNS setting
-Select No, then advanced settings
-Now click on primary DNS and Secondary DNS fields and type in your ISP DNS server Ip address which will have been obtained from your DNS service
-Click on save
-Click on OK to start the connection test
-Perform a Wii system update
-When you have done all of this, now try to go to Netflix, you will notice that you have far more titles then you previously had on your Canadian account.
It’s much easier, to go Settings->Network Settings->Internet Connection Settings. Configure it manually, and when it asks for DNS servers, use the DNS codes provided by the DNS service and save. When you open Netflix, it will now be USA.
I would not recommend doing this with an Xbox 360, as they require you to use your Xbox live account.
