Alert Ready System TEST.
On November 27, 2019, the Emergency Alert System known as ALERT READY, will be broadcasting a TEST Alert message.
The test will take place on television, radio and wireless devices.
The alerts will come through your mobile device, with the same siren-type sound you hear on your local television station.
This is Only a Test, do not be alarmed.
These messages are intended to “test” the functionality of the system, and build awareness of wireless emergency alerts, and DO NOT require consumers to take steps to secure their safety.
In the past, some people did not receive the test notifications, therefore the company periodically runs tests to ensure the system is working correctly.
IMPORTANT NOTE: NOT all cell phones are going to receive these alerts. Check with your service provider and/or on the Alert Ready website to see if your phone is compatible with the new alert system. The older your phone, the less likely it will be able to receive the alerts.

What is Alert Ready?
The Alert Ready system has been used to issue emergency alerts over radio and televisions since 2010, and via compatible wireless devices since 2018.
Almost everyone owns a mobile phone or has access to a mobile device, so this is the best way to share time sensitive emergency information.
All life threatening emergencies will now be broadcast on mobile phones as part of the National Public Alerting System (NPAS).
In the past these alerts could only be heard via broadcast channels. Now you do not have to be near a television or radio station to hear the latest announcements.
Some events that could cause an Emergency Alert would be:
- Fire – Forrest Fire, Wild Fires, Industrial Fire, Urban Fire
- Natural Disasters – Hurricane, Flash Flood, Tornado, Earthquake
- Biological – Dangerous/Poisonous, Chemical, Radiological, Drinking water contamination
- Hazardous – Explosive
- Environmental – Air Quality
- Terrorist Threat
- Civil – Amber Alerts, 911 Service disruption
On the Alert Ready website, you can check your Wireless Carrier Compatibility, see current test schedules and more.
“YOUR PHONE HAS THE POWER TO SAVE A LIFE!!”
Share this with with friends and family, so they are aware of the new method to alert the public.
I think this is the best idea in a long time.
IMPORTANT NOTE: NOT all cell phones are going to receive these alerts. Check with your service provider and/or their website to see if your phone is compatible with the new alert system. Assume the older your phone, the less likely it will be able to receive the alerts.
