As many of you know I am a BzzAgent and from time to time I have the opportunity to try out some exciting and wonderful products. For those of you who have never heard of BzzAgent it is a wonderful community of people who offer their services of sharing their knowledge of products in return for trying free samples. You are sometimes offered campaigns and encouraged to share samples and/or coupons to gain feedback that a company can use. Honest opinions are a must. Good or bad, they want to know.
My most recent campaign is BURT’S BEES Intense Hydration line. Most people are aware of the Burt’s Bees name and familiar with some of their more popular items such as their lip balms. Who does love their lip balms? Now for something completely new. Burt’s Bees has just launched a new line of Intense Hydration products. Just in time for our bitter cold winter here in Canada. I was offered two products from this new line to try out and share with others.
First up is the Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser. It retails for about $12.99 for a 170g tube. This is a large size and will last quite a long time. It is 99% natural which is always a good thing, especially when it comes to your face. The first time I used this cream cleanser I was a little confused. Don’t get me wrong it is super easy to use. Just wet your face and apply a little cream cleanser, lather it up a bit and wash off. So why was I confused? Well it is like washing your face with a lotion. How was that going to clean my face. Well, I was wrong. It completely cleaned my face. It removed all my makeup and left my skin feeling clean but highly moisturized and soft. At first it took some getting used to. I am used to my face feeling “squeaky” clean and tight. This Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser did not make my skin feel tight at all. I kept wiping my face with my fingers thinking it felt greasy, but it wasn’t oily or greasy at all. Just soft and hydrated. As I continued to use the cleanser over the next few weeks I noticed that all the dry, flakey patches around my chin and upper cheeks had disappeared. It has been very cold and windy so far this winter and I am thankful to BzzAgent and Burt’s Bees for helping me discover this new “Intense” cream cleanser. I will certainly be using this in the future.
Up next was BURT’S BEES Intense Hydration Night Cream. This comes in a 50g jar and retails for about $29.99. Like the cream cleanser it has a light citrus scent which thankfully is not too powerful. There is nothing worse than using a product on your face and being overwhelmed by a perfume. I have actually ended up washing off products and throwing them out because of overwhelming smell of them. I don’t need anything that will help promote my headaches. Burts Bees is not like this at all. It is a calm pleasant scent. This product, like the cleanser is a new product developed by Burt’s Bees and it contains Clary Sage. A plant that survives in the very harshest of conditions due to its unique ability to retain moisture. This is the key to healthy skin especially in the winter when the cold and wind dries my skin up like an old lizard. So I was very excited to try a night cream that might actually help. The first night I tried the Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream I was super happy. I woke up the next day with soft, supple skin. I continued to use the night cream for the rest of the week. Unfortunately I think I used it too much. My skin reacted in a negative way. I started to break out. Although Burt’s Bees night cream is dermatologist-tested and non-comedogenic I was definitely have a problem with my skin. I am prone to break outs from time to time and didn’t really know if it was a coincidence or it was the night cream. I stopped using the night cream and only used the Cream Cleanser once a day. My face improved. Once a week, usually on the weekends I use the night cream and the results are wonderful. I think the combination of Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with the Intense Hydration Night Cream was just too much moisture for sensitive skin. In my case less was definitely more.
I like both these products, however I would caution anyone who is prone to acne. Don’t use more than one product if you don’t need it or cut back and don’t use it every single day. These two products work extremely well to moisturize and hydrate your skin. The bonus is you don’t need to use very much of them. So remember if you invest $30.00 in the night cream it is going to last you a very long time.
