Folgers Coffee History

Folgers Coffee was founded back in the year 1850 in San Fransisco. SO this brand has been around for more than 150 years.

In 1872  the coffee company became J.A Folgers & Company from The Pioneer Steam Coffee and Spice Mills.

In 1889 James had passed away, and his oldest son James A Folger the Second took over the coffee company’s president role.

With his leadership, the company expanded to a bulk roasted coffee delivered to many grocery stores. He did sell ground coffee produced under various labels. The Most expensive blend was called Folgers Golden Gate Coffee.

New Coffee Plants rose to help keep up with the demand.

In 1963 Procter & Gamble Company Acquired The Folgers Coffee Company and distributed the coffee products under the Folgers name.

In November 2008, The J.M. Smucker Company announced the completion of its previously disclosed merger with The Folgers Coffee Company, a subsidiary of The Procter & Gamble Company.

In 1999, Folgers products were launched in Canada.
