I was one of the lucky Canadians that got a chance to try out the Keurig 2.0. from Influenster. Obviously I didn’t have one already?
Why am I one of the only households in Canada without a Keurig or Tassimo – Simple I’m too cheap!
I owned a Tassimo one over five years ago – and it sat on the counter with little use. I hated cleaning hot chocolate out of it, and I only used it for Fancy Drinks – not as a daily appliance.
So When the new wave of Tassimo and Keurig machines came out, and everyone began owning one – I just couldn’t justify the expense. I’m going to pay $200 and then an additional $1.50 per cup of coffee. – Wouldn’t be bad, but I drink a pot of coffee by myself most mornings. Since I work from home, I am simply going to drink it. I know most people that seem to own these machines have jobs where they leave the house, so It makes sense not to make a pot coffee for only one cup.
I got the machine just before Christmas – so lots of opportunities to use it. We as a family got to try the machine and eventually had to go to the store and purchase more K cups .
I went to drink a Melitta Guacamole ( one of my favorite coffee blends), and I got the Oops error. Great – Now I learn that all K cups aren’t’ all the same. Sadly I then proceeded to give them to my neighbor after confirming she had the original kind of Keurig.
I did make a cup of hot chocolate – and love love the fact there is no extra clean up for choosing a hot chocolate option – unlike the older machine I had.
The full Brew Pot holds about 3-4 my normal cup size worked well for the odd morning when I was by myself.
Over my few weeks of getting a chance to try it out and evaluate if it would work in my house and be somewhat economical. – No and Yes.
In the Winter I tend to drink way more coffee than in the summer. I tend to drink a full pot by myself without including others drinking habits. I decided to box it back up and will set it up at the Cabin for the Summer months, where it will get the proper use.
In my findings here were my Pros and Cons.
- Very Pretty
- Lovely Display
- Easy to Clean
- Easy Useage
- Single Cup or Brew a Small pot
- Lots of Brew Size Selections
- Huge water tank
- Need to make sure you purchase proper K Cups
- Expensive Usage
If you are looking to upgrade your Keurig Single Serve: I think you will love Keurig 2.0.
Don’t let the specialty cups discourage you – You can still use up your old ones by simply researching Kcup hacks on Pinterest and Youtube by simply using an elastic band and a pair of scissors.
Disclosure: I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
