On October 17, 2018 – Maple Leaf Foods Inc. has issued a Recall on:

Schneiders brand Country Naturals Wieners

If you have the recalled product, you are being asked to not consume this product and return it to the place it was purchased, for a refund.

Reason for Recall:

  • may contain milk which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk should not consume the recalled product described below.

Recall Details

Ottawa, October 17, 2018 – Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is recalling Schneiders brand Country Naturals Wieners from the marketplace because they may contain milk which is not declared on the label. People with an allergy to milk should not consume the recalled product described below.

Background:

This recall was triggered by a consumer complaint. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.

The CFIA is verifying that industry is removing recalled product from the marketplace.

Maple Leaf Canada Recall (Nov 1, 2017)

Maple Leaf Foods is recalling various breaded chicken products from the marketplace because they may contain the toxin produced by Staphylococcus bacteria.

What should be done?

  • If you think you are sick – seek your doctor
  •  Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

Food contaminated with Staphylococcus toxin may ok to consume, but the bacteria is not easy destroyed.

Be aware of the following symptoms:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • abdominal cramping
  • fever

About Maple Foods

Canada Packers was founded in 1927 . By the 1930s, it used the name Maple Leaf for its pork products. Its main business was pork at the time and exported to the UK  and moving into western Canada it became Canada’s largest beef slaughterer.

In 1975, Maple leaf was known as the  14th largest business in Canada.

But in the 1980s, Canada Packers began to suffer. they were forced to close a few facilities, and had to move into other markets such as Black Diamond Cheese.
