Perogy Casserole Recipe

I put together this perogy casserole recipe last night for the first time, and it was a hit with my teenagers. It’s quick to throw together; you can’t beat that price point! You’ll want something hearty on those busy school nights or when there are many mouths to feed at large gatherings – Plus these babies pack some veggies in their carbs if your child needs extra nutrients from vegetables during dinner time.,

Chemo Perogy Casserole

Sorry but the Chemo Brand for Perogies is my favourite for eating and cooking.  I love their fillings, and I know it makes a delicious casserole as its the star in my Quick and Easy Perogy recipe.

How do you make perogy casserole?

Kraft is my favourite choice in ensuring healthy protein that my family eats easily and enjoys. I have the pierogies in my freezer to store in stock whenever I’m looking for an easy wholesome meal. The freezer aisle at the grocery stores has over 3,700 food options. So many of these items are perfect for dinner. This recipe starts using ingredients that you usually have around the house as Alfredo sauce and cheese with some frozen vegetables. The last step is a generous amount of cheddar cheese. Make it so that it is brown and warm.

Frozen perogies

Ingredients and variations

Perogies s are potato dough filled with soft velvet cheese. These are also traditionally filled with sauerkraut, hamburger meat, bacon, sausage,  Frozen perogies are found in most frozen foods stores. They are frequently served with creamy sauces, potatoes, and a variety of foods. They also taste good with sour cream or with greek tzatziki on their own after boiling.

Sour Cream  Vs Alfredo Sauce

For myself, I Prefer using Alfredo Sauce. It’s got a creamy sauce taste that goes well with vegetables and perogies combined.  But if you are wanting to create more of a Ukrainian dish – sour cream and chicken broth or cream cheese and cottage cheese would be a good mixture if you were wanting to use sliced smoked sausage and onions in your casserole. But for this particular recipe, we are wanting to create a Frugal and Quick throw-together meal for families on the run.

Cheddar Cheese

The Recipe is called for Shredder Cheese, so you can easily choose to pick up a bag of shredded cheese in your local grocery store, or you can hand shred your favourite cheddar cheese ( Mild, Medium, old)  it really doesn’t matter when it comes to any remaining cheese choices.  To make it even cheesier, just add more cheese . The Recipe used below uses a 1 and a1/2 cups of shredded cheese,

Mushroom Soup Vs Alfredo Sauce

There is nothing stopping you from trying out Mushroom as a variable instead of Alfredo Sauce. I just prefer Alfredo sauce as it is creamy, and easy to mix into the whole casserole.  To me adding mushroom soup would be similar to a potatoes Company Comming hashbrown recipe. I just haven’t tried mushroom soup as a variable n the recipe.

Can you add Green Onions?

you can certainly add in green onions, garlic or even a bit of leftover bacon grease if you want. After all easiest casserole recipes are all about what you have in your fridge. You should never be scared to change up anything any recipe calls for.

Our Chemo Perogy  Casserole uses the following for our large family that loves lunch overs, but feel free to use just one box and adjust the ingredients while mixing.

  • 2 Box of Cheemo perogies ( frozen)
  • 1 jar of Alfredo sauce
  • Frozen veggies
  • 1 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • add salt and pepper if desired

In a large baking dish  ( or small roasting pan) Spray it with a canned spray such as Pam or spritz olive oil on the bottom of the baking dish.  if your frozen perogies are stuck together, do your best to separate them individually when possible.

Next, add your jar of Alfredo sauce to make sure each frozen perogy has a bit of sauce ( Add just half a jar at this point)

Next, add in your frozen veggies – they should be equivalent to your frozen perogies.  Add in the remainder of your Alfredo sauce.

If this looks good enough for you, then add the cheese on top,

if you feel you need more liquid – add more Alfredo sauce, or use a bit of chicken broth to add a bit more liquid.

Pop it in the oven to cook for 45 minutes at 375 F and serve hot!
