What Is Visa?

Visa is an American financial services corporation. Its headquarters is located in California (Foster City, to be exact).

Visa specializes in electronic funds transfers all over the world. Mostly through Visa-branded credit and debit cards.

Visa does not specifically issue the cards themselves or even extend credit. They provide the financial institutions with Visa-branded payment products that they then use to offer credit, debit, etc. To their customers.

Visa has a global network that is referred to as VisaNet. In 2015, it was reported by Nilson (a publication that keeps track of the credit card industry) that Visa’s global network processed 100 billion transactions!! Well over 6.8 trillion in the US.

Visa has operations all over the world. The only place that you will NOT find Visa is in Antarctica.
