Haagen Dazs History

It started with an ice cream business on a horse-drawn wagon in New York in the 1920s when the family business sold fruit ice and ice cream pops.

In 1960 they came up with the brand name  Häagen-Dazs,

Häagen-Dazs ice cream only began with three flavours: vanilla, chocolate, and coffee, but then quickly expanded to include dark chocolate.

Häagen-Dazs brand had a quick loyal following without any advertising as it quickly spread by word of mouth.

It was only available in gourmet shops in NYC but soon expanded throughout the eastern states and the USA in 1976.

In 1983 the owners agreed to sell the Häagen-Dazs brand to The Pillsbury Company and began its global production in 50 countries.
