Every Spring: In Ontario, starting Early April and sometimes if we have a mild spring late march, you can start seeing some fresh produce such as rhubarb, and many greenhouses begin the crops of tomatoes and cucumbers.
May & June are when fresh seasonal vegetables and fresh fruit start to make a big appearance such as strawberries, It’s the perfect time to start purchasing asparagus and the start of finding leafy greens!
The sunny months of Summer – July and August, is Ontario’s best month to purchase fresh produce. You will find tons of field-grown tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, peaches, plums, and of course cherries. Raspberries will make an appearance during the month of August.
Late August find Root Vegetables starting to be on sale locally like carrots, potatoes, cucumbers. turnip
September is the prime time for apples and pears. Watch for Squashes and pumpkins to start their appearance in grocery stores for the month of October.
