    Del Monte Canada

Del Monte began its journey in Monterey, California, when two brothers, Alexander and Henry Miller, opened a cannery to can local fruits and vegetables. Soon after, they began selling their products to grocers in San Francisco and beyond. In 1899, the company was incorporated as California Packing Corporation, but continued using the “Del Monte” brand name it had become known by. As demand for their products increased, so did production – eventually leading to expansion into Canada with the opening of their first Canadian factory in Quebec City in 1923.

The success of the Quebec City facility led to further expansion across Canada, with factories opening up from coast to coast over the next few decades. By 1960, seven factories produced canned fruits and vegetables in British Columbia.

Today, Del Monte is still strong, with five factories operating across Canada, located in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. The company continues to produce a wide range of foods, including canned fruit & vegetables, salad dressings & sauces, frozen fruit & vegetables, and juices & beverages.
