    About the HGTV Channel

HGTV (Home and Garden Television) began in the US in 1994 as part of the Discovery Communications family. The Canadian version launched two years later, in 1996, making it one of the oldest specialty channels. Since then, it has become one of the most popular networks on Canadian television.

HGTV Canada’s focus on local content sets it apart from other home improvement networks. While many other networks rely heavily on American programming, HGTV Canada is dedicated to showcasing Canadian talent and stories. In addition to airing popular US shows like Property Brothers and Fixer Upper, the network also produces several original series, such as Home to Win and Disaster DIY. These shows feature some of Canada’s top designers, builders, contractors, and even celebrities!

Another thing that makes this network stand out from the competition is its commitment to sustainability. As part of their “Green Home Makeover” initiative, HGTV Canada works with experts to educate viewers on how they can make their homes greener without sacrificing style or comfort. That includes tips on energy-saving appliances, recycled materials,s and more.
